I tried using Creality Wood PLA for the first time. I was able to print a benchy successfully. However, I ran into issues when printing the tree branch I bought the Wood PLA to print.
The filament settings had a temp range 190 - 240. I set the “First Layer” and “Other Layers” to 235.
The print started at 240 degrees. The hot end temp setting began to decrease by 5 degree increments as the print progressed. This is a bit worrying as I just finished disassembling my extruder due to a piece of the wood PLA getting stuck. I wanted to use higher temps than what I used before, which was 220.
I’m not sure of the exact layers where they changed, but as an example it went similar to this:
Print beginning: temp 240/240
Layer 50: temp 235/235
Layer 100: temp 230/230
So on and so forth until at the end of the print it was down to 185/185.
I tried increasing the temp manually during the print through the slicer (Orca Slicer). It would work, and the temp would go up, but then the setting would revert again after about 5-10 seconds.
I’ve never seen this before. Is there some other place I should be setting the hot end temps?
- X1C with an AMS
- Creality Wood PLA with listed temp range of 190-230.
- Filament was dried for 8 hours prior to printing.
The Min temp was set to 190 at the time.
