How are we able to dry filament with AMS 2 Pro and P1S?

How can I initiate the AMS 2 Pro filament dryer function when attached to a Bambu Lab P1S printer?

I can’t find this info anywhere. I have the latest Beta firmware for the P1S (01.07.00.04Beta).

It can’t, they are adding that featute in an OTA update.

Reportedly the update will be out by the end of April?

Yep, Bambu’s website says by the end of April. @MediaMan3D, you will need a power adapter to plug in the AMS 2 Pro independently, the power from the 6pin isn’t enough for drying.

Came here with exact the same question.
Must have been blind not seeing the disclaimer about the P1S.
Thanks for pointing this out.
I guess the filament will stay in the original package until I really need it.
Even bought the fine original power supply

I believe for the X1/P1S it’s actually uses a 4 pin to 6 pin cable, and that the two extra pins may carry the power from the H2D (which is the 6 pin to 6 pin cable that comes with the AMS 2).

I didn’t even think of that. You are probably correct. They use the same setup (6pin to 6pin) if you want to daisy chain AMS units to transfer power from one to another .

@MediaMan3D Does the 01.07.00.04 firmware require Bambu Connect to print from the computer? I’m wondering if they will update the P1S to control drying from the printer screen because I’m assuming we will need to control drying through the computer with a future Bambu Studio update.

I’m in the same spot MediaMan3D.
Got the AMS Pro, loaded it up with PETG & cannot dry it because of the crappy OEM controller.
I have a Panda Touch screen in shipping & wondered if it will be able to access “drying” mode.
Arg!

We won’t know if the Panda Touch will work with the drying function. It may require an update from BIGTREETECH which I suspect won’t come out until after the Bambu firmware update. So patience will be required.

Thanks swooshdave.
I’ll post if it’s available when I get it installed.
Any day now.
I made the mistake of ordering it through their website (2 weeks delivery) then found out I could have gotten it on Amazon. Duh!
At least I saved $11. :grinning:

I have a bunch of the AMS2 pros and really need that update
No work around for now i guess

Now we know. It does NOT!
Still not able to dry with the AMS Pro 2 on the P1S! :frowning:

It’s the middle of April not the end.

I did notice that Bambu had updated their website as some of the details were missing or hard to find.

Can you use handy to turn on the dryer? Or bambu studio? (I don’t have one I’m just curious)

Cannot use Bambu Studio yet.

I just received my P1S AMS 2 Pro Combo w/ 4-port Hub. It came in 3 separate boxes, delivered at 3 different times. The first box and had the 24V Power Supply for the AMS 2 dryer and the hub. The second was generic P1S (no AMS), and the third had the AMS 2. After spending 2 days redesigning my Dry Pods to fit in it, I connected and powered it up. The P1S, Studio and Handy recognize it as just another AMS unit. I’m able to load filament into it and print. Then I found out that there is currently no software support for its dryer functions. Bummer.

Here are my Dry Pods. A couple of hours after installing them with fresh desiccant in them, the humidity was down to 10%. They will be very useful until the dryer functions are enabled. And they should help afterwards as well, because they should minimize how often you will need to run a drying cycle. If you do print them, please let me know how they work for you. I printed a couple of sets in the process of working out the design, but it would be great to get some feedback from others.

Unfortunately the panda can only monitor the printer since the last firmware update, MQTT error when you try to control anything from it and according to the latest from BTT, Bambu are not interested in sharing API access… not looking good at this point

Wow, was looking for an updated version! Will print them in the next days and give you a feedback for sure.

I’m in the same boat. This is what I get for not reading the fine print when I ordered the combo. I had some TPU arrive yesterday and fully intended to use the AMS 2 along with my P1S. Being the impatient person that I am, I full sent it. I watched the print like a hawk and lowered the temperature of the nozzle as needed.
