The tops of my prints are looking pretty “gooey”. It’s a very soft (65A) TPU so I know it’s challenging to print. But what specifically causes this effect and what can I tweak to reduce/eliminate it? Thanks!
X1C, 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, Concentric top pattern, 6 top shell layers, 0.33mm top surface line width, 22mm/s top surface speed, Jerk 9mm/s, 4mm retract, 0.4mm z-hop, 30mm/s retract speed.
Are your gooey spots all sharing a similar and different-from-the-rest-of-the-model’s 1) flow rate or 2) wipe/retract/travel locations?
Those parts that connect between a “top surface” and a wall 2 or 3 layers above it are a little concerning. Like the filament is dribbling out DOWN into your infill instead of standing atop it. With 6 tops it should be ok, but here we are haha
Without seeing the slicer / 3mf it might also be too much flow rate. Those walls look really bulgy.
Pressure advance: 1 (remember, very soft TPU and even at 1 it’s not really doing the job - corners are good but it squishes a big blob at the beginning and end of a move)
Top surface flow-ratio: 0.98
Outer wall was 0.36mm vs 0.35 for the others
Those parts that connect between a “top surface” and a wall 2 or 3 layers above it are a little concerning.
It looks weird due to the angle of the photo. It’s stringing on the same layer from the outer “ridge” across to the main body.
