How do you exhaust the air when printing ABS without any ventilation?

There’s no ventilation fan on the wall.
Do you usually put the high resolution airpurifier like AirDog?

Although it’s not a strict requirement, but I hope people can do the search before posting. There’s already a very informative and exhaustive post regarding to air filtration.

I understand the purifier is designed for particles and some VOCs, but I’m concerned about its limits in a small apartment. Since the purifier sits on the printer’s positive-pressure exhaust path, there’s always some chance of styrene and ultrafine particles escaping through door/lid gaps before ever reaching the filter. And the carbon filter media can saturate fairly quickly, so efficiency against VOCs may drop off over time.

That’s why I’ve been considering a different approach: modifying the top lid with a sealed duct port connected to a low-speed inline fan vented outdoors. The idea is to run it just strong enough to create slight negative pressure in the chamber, so any leaks pull room air inward instead of pushing fumes outward. In theory this should provide more reliable containment than purifier-only, and since it vents outdoors, it avoids burning through filter cartridges.

Has anyone here actually tried a negative-pressure top-vent system on the H2D? Does it hold chamber temps for ASA/ABS, and is it a more viable long-term solution than relying on the purifier? I haven’t found a clear confirmation of this anywhere yet.

With anything but petg, pla and tpu, you arent going to want to exhaust any air. Youll want to keep the chamber consistantly up to the correct temp. The internal filter circulates during these times. There is a mod to replace the aux fan with another recirculating filter. If you hook up an external air pump, it will be working against the rear vents that will be closed. You really dont want any sort of draft and with negative pressure comes cool draft. If youre pulling hot air out, its being replaced with cool air

You can run the exhaust out a window or through an external filter when printing tpu, pla or petg, because the vents will be open. Those filaments arent the ones you should worry about anyway.

Your best bet, is adding filtration to the room. If youre really worried about it, you can put the printer in a 2nd enclosure thats also filtered. Like a small grow tent. They make small ones.

For the fan, you don’t need crazy RPM or airflow — the goal isn’t a wind tunnel, it’s just to create slight negative pressure so all leaks pull inward instead of out. Something like an inline fan in the 100 mm range (AC Infinity T4/S4 class, with speed control) is plenty. You run it just high enough to feel a gentle inward draft at the door seams. Bigger isn’t better here — stability of the chamber temp matters.

To the other point — yes, the stock system closes the rear vent on ASA/ABS/nylon, which means if you only rely on the rear port, you’ll be pulling against closed shutters. That’s why I’m going with a full external enclosure (3030 aluminum + polycarbonate, sealed seams, inline fan on top venting out a window). It creates its own controlled negative pressure, independent of Bambu’s rear vents, so chamber air still flows out safely without uncontrolled drafts.

The internal carbon filter is decent but not airtight and not designed for long-term ASA/laser fumes. Room filtration (like my Airmega) is a nice backup, but containment at the source is the gold standard.

That’s the plan I’m building toward — essentially a lab-style box around the printer.

That enclosure sounds sick. Please post pics when youre done. Really the ultimate setup for isolating the fumes while being able to exchange the air in the outter area without exchanging the air in the printer. Sounds perfect
