This may be a stupid question, but it’s not obvious to me how to go about posting a model to MakerWorld. Is there some tutorial that explains the process? It seems too complicated to work out all the parameters for all the printers.

Think of it as a tip from another user. When you get one it’s converted to points and added to your point total. Basically free points gifted from another user. Users get them to give away by printing models from Makerworld. They can get 2 to 3 boost tokens every 7 days depending on how many models they printed and the complexity of the previously boosted models.

That’s another issue I don’t know about. What are points used for?
If you’re a small time designer like myself you save up 490 points (in the US, different regions are different) and trade them in for a $40 gift card. You can also use them to get other things from the points store:

I’ve also seen people talk about vouchers, but those have never shown up for me.

Just to add to what the great @PrinterMcgee provided.
The gift cards are spent on the Bambu Lab store.
There are two different types of points.
- Exclusive points.
These are earned by having downloads and prints on a model you have marked as exclusive. The Exclusive program requires you to maintain the model solely on the MakerWorld platform while enrolled. There are model categories that cannot be enrolled (check the rules each time to make sure they have added any new ones). Coasters, key chains, simple stuff (according to them) are two obvious ones.
Only exclusive points can be redeemed into cash.
You can redeem Exclusive points into gift cards and other things like lab credits, 99% discounts on kits and more.
- Non-exclusive points
These are for any models you didn’t enroll in the Exclusive program and any other activities outside of model uploads.
These can include the following non-exhaustive list.
- Rating models
- Completing your profile
- Finishing some of the Academy course (also helps you get used to the printers and software)
- Boosts gifted to you by other users for models you have shared
- Exploring the Labs
These points cannot be redeemed for cash, but can be redeemed for gift cards and other things like lab credits, 99% discounts on kits and more.
Earning enough to get a gift card is a rush, I hope you get the same feeling I did my first time.
Design things you wish to share and let the points come as they do. You can make money out of it, but be aware returns come and go, rules change.
If you hope this will be an income, explore multiple income streams, for example selling your models online directly or using a third-party service.
Once you have a few models available that are popular, you could add a Patreon account or the MakerWorld equivalent. This lets people give you money in exchange for things like commercial terms (letting others sell your printed models).
Learn about licenses. These dictate what others are allowed to do with your efforts. From anything including profiting without attribution to only being allowed to print your work. A license is added to each model, you can have a different one on different models if you like.
The Exclusive models require a license that only allows users the right to print your work.

I believe Vouchers are EU store only at the moment (maybe China too? not sure about it).
MW said they will be available in the other stores too, in the future.

No vouchers on the china site.
The only monetary payout they have is giftcards to the tech mall that I will not attempt to spell from memory.
Vouchers appear to make things harder than easier.
Restrictions on their use is strange.
One per purchase, why?
The people say “can we have higher value gift cards to purchase so we can make the purchasing process easier.
The response, no, use this other thing instead that you can only use one of to make it harder.
