I own an A1 Mini, an A1 with AMS Lite and a P1S with AMS. I’m still in the infancy stages of learning how these printers work and how to design ideas.
I’ve been using all brands of filament and recently purchased a few of the Bambu Labs brand. When installing on my A1 AMS Lite I noticed that it auto-recognized not only the brand…but the color as well!
I’d love to know how it does this. Can anyone explain?
It’s the RFID system. Each Bambu filament has an RFID tag that has the settings information for the printer. Look for the about 3/4’ diameter silver spirals as the spool runs low - those are the tags.
The tags (there’s two - one on each side) are glued to the cardboard hub for the filament. The cardboard hub rides on the plastic hub of the spools.
Since you’re new, might look at some of the threads here on spool assembly if you get refills. But the tags are basically attached to the filament and not the plastic spool. The spools are reuseable.
