How many hours do you use your build plates?

I used my standard build plate for 600 hours om mr H2C without cleaning it. It worked perfekt, no printing issues.

Cleaned it and tried again, new print but it was nut sussesfull.

so I intalled a new build plate

Now printing without issues again.

I will try to clean the other one again it should have spme more hours left.

So my question is, when do you change your build plates?

Only if damaged from the nozzle crashing into it, or if it tore when a print was being pulled off it.

I agree you should try to clean it again, textured PEI especially is nearly immortal, some of mine are probably over 3000+ hours. Hot water, plain unscented dish soap, a clean scrubber you do not use for food, drying towels that dont have fabric softener, etc. Invisible oils are the enemy, and can be tough to get out of texPEI once it’s in the nooks and crannies. Through the Magic Of Doing It Again, though, you’ll get it out! [If your cleaning method is 90% effective, do it twice, and it’s now 99%. roughly.]

Tell us about how you cleaned it please. Full details.

I used dishwashing detergent as usual, use it with every build plate.

i will try it again.

Last time I used a bar of Dove soap. you have to rinse it with warm water and without gloves, you must hear the squeaking of your skin onto the plate, that’s the signal it’s fully clean (and your hands as well)

Dish soap, hot water, and a nylon-bristled brush, and then dry with a paper towel. Avoid using dish cloths for drying, as those can contain fabric softener residue that can mess up adhesion.

I have the original build plate my x1c and a1 came with, the x1c has 5780 hours and the a1 has 1050 hours.

I use only Cryogrip Glacier and Garolite G10 on my H2D. I never have to clean them.

I will say, build plate life depends on your usage habits. I always buy two of each build plate I run; when I finish a print I pull the plate, set it aside, load the new plate, and let the first plate cool slowly before removing parts. If you pop the plate immediately, it is going to result in faster overall degradation.

The reason for asking for details on how you cleaned it.
