I had performed a cut on an object with a dovetail (object A and B after the cut). I printed Object A however the overhang didn’t get printed. Instead of reprinting object A, I’d like to modify Object B so it fills in the notch.
i’d like to add the below so that when the two pieces are assembled, it’d have something more to glue together instead of a empty triangle. How can I do this in Bambu studio as the two objects were cut there.
The simplest way is the add a rectangle the thickness of the wall to fill the area you want to add.
Right click on the object and select “add primative”. Size the rectangle the thickness of the wall and use the move button to position it. It’s okay for the parts to overlap as the slicer will treat it as one part.
Alternatively you could slice the first model at the top point of the triangle and then “merge” the sections together and move it into position.
Appreciate the advice @JonRaymond . I’ve attempted to “Add Part” and sized a rectangle to overlap Object B to fill in the area but the bottom of Object B has a 45 degree edge that gets filled in by the new rectangle. If I’m trying to elevate the new rectangle it doesn’t allow me to and drops it to make contact with the print surface.
I’m going to investigate your second suggestion to see if that viable as well.
You must use the Assemble command to attach one object to another. As you just saw, if you raise an object by itself, it will simply fall back onto the build plate.
To assemble objects, hold Ctrl and click each object you want included. Then right-click one of the selected objects and choose Assemble.
If Assemble does not appear in the menu, you likely do not have both objects selected. It is easy to miss a click or accidentally deselect one, so go back and select them again.
You can also select the objects from the object list, but in that case you must use the Assembly drop-down on the build plate.
Once objects are assembled, the lowest object in the group sets the floor level for the assembly.
On a side note. If you plan on doing this frequently, you may want to learn CAD, there are too many choices to go through but the easiest and simplest is probably web based OnShape.com. You won’t need any special hardware as it runs in a browser and is free. Note, all of your models will be visible to the public. Alternatives are FreeCAD which is very hard to use for a newbie and Fusion360 which requires beefier PC and has a learning curve. You could also try TinkerCAD which also free but it is very limited.
