I have a filament that isn’t printing great. I ran the manual flow rate and pressure advance calibrations. I changed the flow rate in my filament profile. In the Calibration screen I clicked Manage and entered my new K vale and gave it a name.
For the life of me I can’t figure out how APPLY it. The AMS slot where the filament is inserted still shows the default 0.020.
As a quick workaround I entered SET_PRESSURE_ADVANCE ADVANCE=0.025 in the filament profile G Code. But I’d still like to know the answer.
PA used to be in the filament profile. Why did they remove it?
You have to create the filament first of all: on Prepare tab –> project filaments part of the window → rightmost icon “set filaments to use” → huge load because i think it syncs with device → custom filaments.
those profiles (all of them) must be synced to the device, I think it’s automatic. once they are also into the machine you can see them through the device’s monitor as well
I suggest to don’t use default profiles and create your own “MY General” and so on. For full modifiability of them, I seem to recall that using built in profiles had certain limitations in this regard. Default profiles are good as a base for creating new custom profiles.
Yes I’ve started creating a new profile for every project so my tweaks don’t get lost in the void.
But I’m still not understanding how to get my new K value. AI says it should be in the dropdown when I click the edit AMS slot. But it’s not. I’ve already close/opened BS to see if something needed to refresh.
Create a filament profile for each filament type you need to manage, otherwise all the settings will never link together. then doing so you reduce your menu to the bone, instead of being doomed to open those -20 items- default menu.
If you do everything correctly, when you need to change a spool, you change the spool and then click modify → you change color as needed → click brand → click type let’s say PLA wood → PA profile (present)
Not having to pop open a default menu means you will see only your real owned filaments and you don’t have to become mad to search a setting in those 20 items menu.
After this you recall those sure settings into your project and you do the final tweaks I think.
PA was never in the Studio filament profiles. It has always been managed through the Device tab, where it is known as Flow Dynamics.
OrcaSlicer does include PA settings in the filament profile. Profile values will override Device tab settings. Optional Adaptive PA allows fine-tuning PA for volumetric speed and acceleration.
I see my K-profile on the “dropdown” on the device page. So basically I calibrated and see my custom flow dynamics in the “Calibration” page in “Manage Result”:
BTW: The filament you choose at the calibration has to match the filament you select int the AMS. E.g. when I change my filament to “Generic PLA” or even “Bambu PLA Basic” then no PA Profile drop-down is displayed (as I only calibrated the “Bambu PLA Matte” in my case)
I used Orca briefly before I got my first Bambu. That’s probably what I remember. I remember a check box to use PA and then that un-ghosted an entry field. That means I was trying to tune an Ender. LOL
