I’m printing an organic shape which needs a large brim, and the generator produces a small one.
Changing the ‘Brim width’ setting has no effect, the brim is the same small size.
Changing the ‘Initial layer expansion’ setting has no effect, the brim is the same small size.
Setting the brim type to ‘Painted’ and using the Brim Ears painter has no effect, the brim is as before.
Why do none of these setting work at all? How do I get a brim?

PS kindly do not respond with why this doesn’t need a brim, brims are stupid, you’re stupid and inexperienced for using brims, etc. It does, they’re not, I’m neither, just move on.
Too much support encircling the model… there is no spot for a brim to exist.
You might workaround this by just making the support first layer expansion to 20mm or whatever large, then put the support object first layer gap to 0.10, 0, or whatever your brim-appropriate number is. Now the supports brim wikl be a brim for both the model and the support
I would certainly be happy with a brim of support material.
But as I said above, first layer expansion does nothing.
It’s especially annoying because the prime tower has a much larger brim. The slicer knows an object this tall needs a big brim, which you can tell because it puts one on the prime tower, but there’s no way to get it on the part.
OK, brims are not stupid, but one-layer skirts are really dumb.
Studio already prints lines to prime the extruder and establish flow, so a skirt is not needed. If supports are used, their first layer will be printed before the model’s first layer, further stabilizing the flow.
A tall skirt can be useful as a draft shield.
Try Outer brim only, set it as wide as you like.
I’ve never needed first layer expansion.
As I said above, the brim settings don’t do anything. I would love if Outer brim worked but it doesn’t: below are my slicing results with outer brim 2 and outer brim 20. They’re identical.
I know the skirt doesn’t do anything to help flow. It’s a cross-check, if I made a mistake locating the parts, which can happen, it tells me right away.
Why not use a raft and supports?
Or use normal supports. The added stability should help. I get it uses too much filament sometimes and takes time.

I am using a raft and supports. But they are generated with an adhesion area that is too small for the height of the part. I’m trying to increase that area, but there’s no way to do it with the Bambu slicer settings.
I don’t care how much filament it uses.

I derped around with it for a minute based on the information here and concluded:
Tree Hybrid, Strong, and Slim“Styles” ignores initial layer expansion [and have it greyed out, so likely not a true bug but a compatibility thing] but the other normal and organic tree styles will respect it.
I was having the exact same issue and landed here. After some experimentation I was able to get layer expansion to work only after disabling raft layers. Hope this helps someone. I spent DAYS trying to get my part to stay on the plate.
I found that it failed with Raft layer 1, but succeeded with raft layer 2 or more.
Only the first layer expands, the rest of the raft is the small default brim and can’t be changed. So if you want a wide thick raft you’re SOL, but if one layer is enough then asking for 2 layers might help.
