Just a general enquiry - many models introduce supports and they can be difficult to remove cleanly.
I just want any model to use the specific reel if support is required.
No helpful info on the box, if I can’t find data on their website I shall return it.
I will say, support/interface filament is a really small market, anytime you see dedicated support/interface filaments it’s generally safe to assume it’s either mostly or entirely made of a standard filament.
Given the print temperature and what it’s supposed to support, it’s usually pretty easy to figure out what it is.
Share a link to the material, we’ll help figure out what this is!
They advertise support filaments using HIPS, PVA and “Breakaway” which is suitable for “ABS and other high temperaure materials where water soluble may not work”
No data sheets, no printing settings … one of “those” filament companies. Probably don’t have reliable supply chain so every batch is different.
edit Oh wait, the “breakaway” is labelled on the spool with 220-260C nozzle, 100-110 bed. No other information available.
Thanks for the response. Yes, I saw the specs, but that doesn’t solve the problem.
My H2C/ AMS2 system doesn’t have an option to select a Generic support filament. BL state theirs has the RFID, so I think I’ll purchase one spool and reuse the RFID.
I just wondered why there isn’t an option under “Generic” for support filament, otherwise how would the correct spool be selected when the model is being sliced.
I’ll check again in the morning, but otherwise I’ll return it.
What are you actually printing with, though, to need the support filament for? For example if it’s PLA or PETG, you can use the other to support it. The temperatures are not too dis-similar, they don’t stick to each other very well, and they’re cheap and easy to print.
Now normally I would use support filament only for the interface layer between the print and the support structure, otherwise you have bed adhesion problems with the temperature differences of the filament and support filament. It’s also probably cheaper again unless it’s an exotic engineering material.
First, having “generic support filament” is in no way a guaranteed solution, uniquely because “support filament” is a whole class of filaments, unlike PLA, PETG, PA6, etc., which are specific filament types and broadly have similar parameters. Not so for support, where the print temperatures have a massive range.
Thats why you should help us figure out what the filament is, so you can select the Bambu equivalent - I do it all the time on my H2C.
Second, you can absolutely define your own filaments in Bambu Studio and when you hit “sync”, it will show up as an available filament for you to select on the printer.
An aside, Bambu pulled the third party profiles from the H2C because of filament calibration issues and clogging of the induction nozzles - but even so, that probably wouldn’t make a difference in this situation.
Thanks for following through with me. I quite new to 3d printing and my new machine with 2x AMS2 ,etc, presents a new world of learning. Using your clues I went into Wiki and it seems I can define the support as almost anything and select it.
I’m going to study this further and then bug you on selecting the colors I want. I haven’t yet found an easy way to force a specific color from my synched available options. It should be obvious but …
