Any advices on how to get more followers?
- Make compelling models
- Make all models easy to print
- Create model descriptions that are well-written with paragraphs, bullet pints headings and make the flow consistent
- Respond to every comment and rating
- Make your photos visually appealing
- Create a recognisable style to your artwork
- Give it time
The aim is to create a consistent experience users can trust.
Probably asking is a good place to start. Put a little call to action at the top of your descriptions. A lot of people might just forget. Don’t make it obnoxious, though. That’ll have more of a negative effect.
Getting followers (and boosts) is like falling in love. Don’t force it.
One of best advice for creative folks comes from one of best uncles I know: “make cools hit, put it on the internets”
Make models with articulated legs or The Rock’s head.

May start doing this, at least as a trial.
I am not forcing it. But I think there must be something that I should be doing but not doing.
You could get a time machine. The earlier you were here the easier it was.
I didn’t get that early bump.
I am very ill (dying) and it means I am bed-bound for at least 23 hours a day.
I respond to around a 100+ each day. If you engage they will engage.
- Create public collections and add a link into each model that matches the collection.
If you create Jelly moulds and barnyard animals
Create a public collection for each and add each matching model. Within your description add something like
“This model is part of a series, check out my Barnyard Animals collection.”
Add a link to the italics bit above. This lets users find other related models easier.
Do what you like, share what you love. Likeminded people will follow.
100+ a day!
So far I have only responded to a few, mostly for questions. This could be the single most important thing that I should be doing, among other improvements.
I think I have done the first part. All my models are what I like.
Likeminded people can be an issue. Many of my models are quite niche. I am aware that this can be a factor in my low follower count.
I just checked your bio and top downloaded model and didn’t see a single mention of follow so I would start there. In general I try to add “calls to follow” where it’s convenient for users to click the button and a clear purpose to it. With the addition of the Community tab and the feed for people you follow it’s become a lot more valuable so I started asking for follows in my models and bio with the promise to provide updates when I release new models.
If you found this useful be sure to hit that follow button ![]()
Yes, the call-to-action is also suggested by @Zammer3D. This is an easy fix. All new models from now on will have that call-to-action. I may even go back to edit some existing models to include it.
It’s also the new Community tab that makes me looking into increasing the follower count. Before I wasn’t paying much attention.
Pretty much what Malc said. I spend a bit of time at the end of the day thanking people and giving quick responses to comments with pictures and answering questions. I try to come up with things that people will like and that are kind of unique. And it just takes some time.
Do you say thank-you to all users who rated the model or only those who included comment and/or photos? I can’t do 100+ a day like Malc does, but allocating sometime at the end of the day to interact with users can be an option.
My models are unique. Coming up with models that are popular is still a struggle. There isn’t an easy fix for that
). I would say so far I only have one that can be considered popular.
I just checked your profile, and you have some neat models!
So I don’t respond to everyone, just don’t have the time. But I try to prioritize pictures, and comments with boosts. And if someone has a question, I’ll try to answer those, especially if it pertains to something about printing the file.
Maybe I should do the same: Thanking users that have comments or photos.
I haven’t been interacting with users partly because I feel like if I respond to one, I will have to respond to all, otherwise users to whom I don’t say thank-you will feel less appreciated. Maybe this concern isn’t real.
I will second the recommendation to make a comment about “follow me for more [whatever it is you’re making]”. I honestly didn’t even realize “following” was a thing on makerworld until I saw this thread.
Well, there must be something different in all of us because when i see or hear that typical phrase “follow me for more”, it seems that is forced on me if i want to see more.
It’s like dating. At least buy me a drink first, we just met ![]()
I follow who i think it has what i like. People who follow me do the same. What does it matter if i have 10 followers or 100? Better 10 loyal that like what i do than 100 that just clicked the follow button and don’t participate in anything.
As for answers, i answer them all (except these last 2 weeks until now) equally. Sympathy is part of me and so is communicating. I show interest for what people do and i thank them and communicate with them about it and sometimes i even go out of my way to help them in a more private manner.
Everyone has a “modus operandi”. Nothing should be forced and no one should be forced to be what they are not.
One last thing is that many people read what we write and see how we behave here in the forum and, depending on the person, they get to follow us due to that. That’s a gold tip and a freebie from my part ![]()
Did you mean you say thank-you to all users who rated the model?
I hope you are not implying that you are the only one who has sympathy and others are just not as “nice” as you
Most people are uncomfortable to make that suggestion.
I hope people read what we wrote here and note how one behaves. They may note that there are people who are constantly complaining and contributing nothing constructive to the community.
