The idea behind my most popular design so far was: “Hmm… the contest for pets is going on, my cat needs something to scratch against, I bet I can think of something that has spikes and is cute… HEY!”
The idea behind my most popular design that’s non-contest related was: “OK, I printed these… Now where do I put them? I need some kind of dedicated storage bin…”
Looking at what I posted so far, everything falls into: “i wanted it, haven’t found it, made it”, “there’s a contest going on, hmmm…” and “Yes honey, I can do that for you”
All my uploads are basically stuff that I needed for myself, and after printing it I went “hmm, maybe someone else might have a use for it”. I don’t upload the super obscure stuff that has a very specific purpose (which makes up 90% of the things I print), only the models others might have a use for as well.
Contests are great not just for the designers, but for us users too. Me and most of family are used to finding great quality models amongst contest winners, so definitely try to win one if possible
If you have a short, memorable URL on the board (including www, otherwise very few people will notice that it is a website). The board is at 90° to the street and not parallel to the road (as on your picture). If it is the only one with backlighting, you may can expect perhaps 1 website visitor for every 1,000 vehicles passing by in case it is dark and the board lights up.
I normaly use this supplier with this model:
But only the Building application and inspection by authorities for placement on the provincial road network is approximately 1500 euros - whereby if there is an increase in accidents, the decision to dismantling remains reserved, even if it has been approved by the authorities. At least in Switzerland. Minimum distance to street entrances 20m (However, the information given can change at any time)
The first website was launched in Asia. It starts to run after someone drove through the city with 90k inhabitants for 1 month with a bright red multicap with a 2m long billboard on the top during 30 days incl. the www. The first version was without the www - so the first 30 days were for nothing.
Retaining a customer is ten times easier than acquiring a new one - solve a problem and keep customers happy. You do this day after day for decades until everyone knows that you are doing it right and they can trust you.
So if @3dPrintingKid gets a short, memorable URL and puts it on a billboard that is 90° to the street and lit using the bulbs you recommended you think that’s the way to go? I mean with permission from the Swiss authorities of course, that goes without saying.
As for any enterprise I would say that if you are interested in growing your public you have to
know what they want
know who they are
For example if you are interested in modeling train set miniatures it’s fair to assume that your audience is not young so they would gather online around “older” social networks, like Facebook.
Join a group and look what is trending. Pick something quick and simple to iterate and give it a personal spin. Then use the same channel to spread the good gospel
Talk to people, solve their problems, make them happy and get better. At the beginning it might just be some keychain with your www, or a www. on your .stl model - Maybe you can think of something better. May also without www. since you’re not ready yet. Then at some point something like a billboard will appear… day after day, drop by drop.
The only thing you will quickly become is poor - the only way to make money is poverty of your own needs, because any income is quickly spent.
A little story:
My brother-in-law, restaurant in Asia. Advertising board along the street with the restaurant name only.
My correction:
Board rotated 90° to make it easier to read in driving direction. Restaurant name in small letters. Large and eye-catching “Restaurant” (since People aren’t looking for him, they’re hungry and looking for a restaurant) Result = increase in sales 20%. Massively more reviews from travelers (cooked deliciously too), spend 1 hour on the phone with me every week. 1 year later 300% more sales.
Dear @3dPrintingKid, the answers here were for adults and not for you.
Perhaps discuss with your parents how to. They will certainly guide you correctly and take care of you. Your mother will surely love each of your models and that may actual everything that really matters.
But he’s the one who asked the original question, why would you answer other people in the thread and say your answers aren’t for him? Also my post was obviously a joke and you posted volumes of data about it. Hank be honest, just between you and I… you’re A.I. aren’t you?
Now I’m kind of curious what would happen if I put a billboard up advertising my wares. I’ve already been thinking again about that rainy night, a few post up, where I saw that PrinterMcgee ad, and I’ve got to admit, it’s working.
