How to Increase Quality?

Hello,

I am working on a keychain hat and when I go to print it the text is coming out blotchy or not smooth. I got one prototype to print in good quality but I did not write down the print settings. Is there anything I can do to improve this? Would going to a 0.2 Nozzle improve the quality of the letters?

The Size is X:30mm Y:44.23mm Z:27.12mm

Settings:
Nozzle Diameter: 0.4
0.16 mm Optimal BBL X1C
Wall Generator: Arachne
Sparse Infill Density: 55%
Sparse Infill Pattern: Concentric

Support Top Z Distance: 0.275

Any help would be great thank you!

Yes. It will allow printing with a thinner line width and printing within more layers, resulting in better resolution and, thus, a better look.
For an aesthetic print like this, I would go with it.

You can also reduce the layer height and the line width with the 0.4 mm nozzle, but the effect depends on the print orientation. If you choose this option, try recalibrating the filament for the new settings.

Would this mean re-slicing the plate with the new width settings?

Also I’ll try the .2 Nozzle and see it comes in tomorrow.

Yes, if the calibration values change, you need to slice again.
What I mean by recalibrating is to do at least flow and PA calibration.

The 0.2mm nozzle will likely result in the desired output.
Besides the abovementioned points, you can also try to optimise print orientation, font and letter spacing, and the purging amount. The effect may be minimal, yet minor improvements are relevant in detail prints.
By the way, are you using the slicer text function or doing it on the design software?

I used a design software for the text, would using bambu studio be better for adding the text?

Also, thank you for the information on flow and PA calibration I will check those out as well.

I think that using a specific software is better. I would export the print as an assembly, with text and hat as parts. This will make it easier for the slicer to interpret and adjust the filament changes.

You’re welcome. The default PA and flow rates seem to work for most cases, but these two may be critical since you want to print high-quality details.
