I couldn’t find a simple walk-through of how to post a Remix, so I thought I’d post one.
-
Login to MakerWorld.
-
Select the ‘Upload’ button at the top of your homepage.
-
Then select the “Remix” tab to take you to the Upload page.
On the Upload page:
- If you have a 3MF file that was exported from Bambu Studio for it then select the “Yes (earn extra points reward)” button. Then drag your Bambu 3MF file onto the “Drag your 3mf file here” box. You can optionally drag an STL file onto the “Drag your files here” box if you have one. The advantage of using this option is that you will get credits for downloads that you can use in the MakerWorld Store.
Note: Bambu Studio exports native 3MF files that use extensions to the 3MF file format that other slicers don’t support. So there is a distinction between a Bambu 3MF file and those generated by other slicers, e.g., Prusa or Cura. To export a 3MF file from Bambu Studio that can be read by other slicers, use the “File/Export/Export Generic 3MF …” option.
-
If you have a 3MF file that was NOT exported from Bambu Studio, or just an STL file then select the “I have STL/CAD files or other types of 3MF files” button. And drag your file(s) onto the “Drag your files here” box.
-
Then press the “Next Step ->” button at the bottom of the page to take you to the Model Information page.
On the Model Information page:
-
Add a Photo of your design if you have one.
-
Paste a link to the page that you generated the remix for. If the post is a remix of several other designs, you might also add a link to the original design that it was remixed from. And to get you more downloads/visibility you could go back to the original design and post your remix there as well.
-
Paste in the “Model Name”. This is the name that will be used as the title of your remix.
-
Define a “Category”, e.g., “3D Printer Accessories”.
-
Add any “Tags” that you think are appropriate. You may want to look at the Tags of the original model.
-
Check the “NSFW content for adults only” button appropriately.
-
Check the “Allow adaptions of your work to be shared?”, and “Allow commercial uses of your work?” buttons, and any others that may pop up, appropriately. These buttons drive the selection of the license agreement for your remix, but you can select a license agreement explicitly.
-
Set the Visibility that you want for your remix.
-
Add a detailed “Description” of your remix. Identify the problem that it solves with the original design, and how it fixes it.
-
Add any other Documentation that you may have:
-
Assembly Guide file types supported:
Format: pdf, png, jpg, webp, gif;
Size: png, jpg, webp, gif ≤ 30MB/ file, pdf ≤ 50MB/ file
Quantity: ≤ 25 -
Other Documentation file types supported:
Format: txt;
Size: txt ≤ 2MB/file
Quantity: ≤ 10 files
Note: To add a file type that is not supported (e.g., an Arduino .INO file), you can ZIP it up and add it to the “Raw Model Files” (Drag your files here) box at the top of the page. Just make sure you name the file clearly, e.g., “Arduino files”.
- Press the Publish button at the bottom, and you’re done.
