How to prevent bowing in PA6-GF

I printed a base plate for a filament rewinder of of Bambu Lab PA6-GF with dimensions of 240mm × 110mm and it developed bowing on both axes after the print was complete so during cool-down of object.
Was a pretty long print but I checked it many times and during the entire build process, visually it was in contact with the build plate. I do not intent to reprint as it screws to aluminum 2020 extrusion and it will flatten out as the bowing is not just at corners.

I have another base plate for the donor spool which is 180mm × 110mm which I need to print and would like to avoid the bowing that manifests during cool-down. Is there a way to do this?

Most problems I have read about or experienced are during printing and have not read anything about cool-down troubles.

Warpign is caused by hot layers deposited on cold layers and the cooling, and hence shrinking, pulling the bottim up.

With good bed adhesion, this can lift the build plate off the heat bed at the edges.

PA6 and PA6-GF are particularly prone to warping. PA6-CF is much better as the CF cause a better thermal distribution through the part, reducing warping and its ugly sibling, curling.

Other methods to combat warping:

  • Print with a warm build chamber. You can get a bit creative but do not do anything dangerous.
  • Print with reduced layer height to reduce thermal mismatch.
  • Print (even) slower.

I had some unusual (to me) cracking in the base plate, after I posted this question when I tried to install some 3mm heat-set’s in the base plate.
I opted to replace that base with old faithful PLA
Have not had problems with straight PA6 prints
