How to reinforce the brims

Is there a possibility to reinforce the brims? Not only one layer. In some cases it would be much better to increment the number of layers.

Among other things you can do to create better Brims for various prints. You can in your project, go to settings profile, expert settings and edit it. In the adhesion section it can increase both Brim width and lines, which you already are aware but you can also set various brim layer heights from the default of anywhere between .2 and .4, just have to experiment depending on your filament type. Keep in mind you can also modify your Brim type depending on your print using a raft or skirt type

Where can you find a setting for the brim layer height or for multiple-layer brims? I’m using Studio Develop mode and not finding anything related.

When I need a “stronger” brim, I make it wider to increase adherence. If the brim is breaking loose from the model, reduce the Brim-object gap, which creates more squish between the innermost brim line and the model. (The gap is obviously not an actual empty area.) That may make brim removal more difficult, but so would trying to break loose multiple layers.

OrcaSlicer offers Brim follows compensated outline that moves the brim closer when the model first-layer perimeter has been reduced to compensate for elephant’s foot.

Sorry, what are “elephant’s foot” regarding to Brim?

There is a tendency for the bottom layer perimeters to bulge outwards slightly, causing what is known as “elephant’s foot”.

Elephants’ foot compensation (EFC) in Studio and OrcaSlicer intentionally shrinks the bottom layer perimeter slightly to create a precise wall.

By default, brims follow the original model outline with the innermost line spaced slightly outward (the brim-object “gap”). By shrinking the perimeter, EFC increases the Brim-object gap, weakening the brim attachment.


(This image shows an actual gap; it will usually just be an area of reduced “squish.”)

Bambu’s simplistic solution is to disable the elephant’s foot compensation. Of course, this prints a model with imprecise dimensions.

OrcaSlicer recognizes when elephant’s foot compensation is enabled and makes the brim follow the compensated perimeter rather than the original perimeter, maintaining the desired Brim-object gap.
