I got a terrible blob last week, see photos below:
I managed to remove it, but the Part Cooling Fan got damaged in the process. I ordered a new Part Cooling Fan, that arrived today. I followed the instructions on the wiki to remove the broken fan and attach the new one. However, I’m stuck at the screws of the fan. The two screws on the side are easy. But how on earth am I supposed to get the screw on the back side in the hole? (See the 3rd photo on the Install the New Part Cooling Fan step.)
I tried several times, 50% of the attempts end with the screw falling in the fan, and then I need to unscrew the side screws again to be able to turn the fan upside down to get the screw out. 40% of the times the screw falls off on the other side. 10% of the times I actually make it to the hole, but somehow the screw then doesn’t grip the thread. I’m desperate and totally frustrated. Am I doing something wrong? Did I miss a vital instruction that makes this a breeze? There must be an easier way, I hope…
Hi,just wondering by any chance are you using a non magnetic screw bit for your screw driver? If so try a magnetic one so its easy.
Else may be you can tilt the whole machine and then do it. Also make sure the thread is actually good,try screwing it without the fan first.

Thanks, @3Ddrifter. I’m using the Allen key screwdriver that was part of the maintenance kit that I got with my A1 mini. It’s not magnetic. I’ll see if I can find a magnetic one, that should help indeed. Tilting the machine doesn’t seem so easy to me, with all the moving parts and all. But I’ll keep it in mind if the magnetic screwdriver doesn’t do the trick.
Sidenote: when disassembling and reassembling the thing, I was initially really impressed: Bambu Lab designed a really sleek looking device, yet made it possible for almost every part to be replaced without specialized tooling. (With most of our appliances and devices not being repairable at all these days, this deserves some applause!) This one screw seems to be an oversight, though.

@3Ddrifter Thanks again for your suggestions. My screw driver was not magnetic, but I was able to magnetize it by rubbing it on a magnet a few times. Combined with tilting the printer, I was able to get the screw in.
I tried editing the Wiki page, because I think it would be helpful to add this as suggestions there. However, it doesn’t seem to be a “real” wiki, since I needed to log in to edit, and my existing Bambu Lab login didn’t work there…
