I have a model with some overhangs and am using the Tree Slim support. It works well, but there is one specific area where the support brim that is created with the Initial Layer Expansion setting makes the support slightly harder to remove, as you have to poke a hole in the brim first in order to pull the support out. I’m posting this model on Makerworld and care about making the support removal as seamless as possible, so I’d appreciate a solution or update to Studio to allow for this.
Here is how the sliced model looks normally, with the Initial Layer Expansion set to -1 for auto. I need the brim removed in the keyhole area marked with an X, but I like the brims created everywhere else (checkmarks).
Here is how the sliced model looks with the Initial Layer Expansion set to 0. This makes the support very easy to remove in the keyhole, but I’m worried about consistent adhesion (or lack thereof) of the support for all the other zones.
I have tried adding support blockers strategically around the keyhole to try to block the brim while still having some support there. I have also tried adding a modifier shape to that area, though for some reason, modifiers unfortunately cannot modify anything from the “Support” tab. DUMB!
This is all I can think of to try without wasting a bunch of time. There’s just gotta be a way. This would be such a stupid thing to force around an entire model.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Sorry if there is something obvious I’m missing, I’m not the most experienced here.

I believe that is for the model body’s brim, not for the support body’s brim. My model doesn’t have any brim, this is just the support. Thank you for that though

could that help ? but im guessing the issue would be doing that for individual supports and not just an inner brim ?
Sorry…I’m kind of confused what you’re saying here. Are you suggesting again to add a brim to my model? It currently doesn’t have a brim and I believe that setting doesn’t control the support Initial Layer Expansion (AKA support brim) at all. Please clarify if you have the time.
No i didnt mean to come across like i was telling you to use a brim you dont want to add , its just wording ,so i hope this answers your question in regards to the initial layer expanstion, i also played about with density but 90% appears to be the best setting for what is shown above

maybe instead of reducing the brim, you can add a tiny part in the middle of the key hole, e.g. a small bar 0.8mm wide, a little bit shorter than the width of the key hole and 0.2mm high. The support and its brim will stop at the bar, so that its effectively split in half. The bar will look like some detached brim and not interfere with anything.
Ah I understand now, thanks. Yeah there is probably some middle ground solution here by messing with the number. It’s too bad that there doesn’t seem to be a way to selectively set that number in diffent locations around the same part.
I think there is! you can add a modifier geometry to your part (select part, right click, add modifier). That modifier is not being printed but allows you to change settings locally. Not all settings are available that way, but I think you can adjust support settings.
yeah I did lol just don’t fully understand it. To me it sounds like then there is an additional part there now which I think it would not allow due to boundaries? And it’s a really small space so adding more wouldn’t change much I don’t think. Unless I totally misunderstand.
I see. The idea was that you put a very small part in the middle of the key hole, maybe 2 or only 1 layers thick. When you remove the actual part from the build plate, the blocker part will stay on the build plate and look like some loose brim or something. But the support base is split in half by the blocker part.
