I’m currently debating dipping my toe into commercial licensing for some of my models but I can’t decide whether to do it on MW or some combination of other sites (Patreon, Thangs, Cults3D).
One thing I’m grappling with is if people can download your models on MW for free, I worry that the percentage of people who will pay for commercial rights is really small. It seems like pay walling your models in some way is a necessity. This sucks because I love offering them for free for personal use and getting comments and feedback.
And another thing I’m grappling with is so many 3d model designers have Patreons so it’s a “one-stop shop” for commercial sellers to keep track of all their subscriptions and see the latest models from their favorite designers. Whereas MW would be a “separate place” to have to go to which is inconvenient.
