How are these actually set up? AMS2 are daisy chained via the 8 Pin, but how are the HT connected and how, or where does the filament run? Does it need the 4-n-1 for this and how many HT can be connected? I’m considering a pair of HT to go along with possibly 2 more AMS2 for 16 different colors and the HT used for PETG only. Do these work like the AMS2 just for a single roll?
I believe the serial cables are just connected one device to the next.
SO the HT also use the 8 pin cables and just daisy chain with the AMS2. OK, that clears that up, thanks. What are the 4 pin ones for, I think I saw 2 on the back side, but mine is the full combo with the built in air pump.
I don’t have the H2D, but the 4 pin cable on the X1C goes from the machine to the buffer/hub. THe buffer/hub converts it to the 6 pin that goes out to the AMS units. The buffer is built into the H2D and only has the 6 pin output, at least that is what is in the picture above.
I use an H2D with 3 AMS 2’s and one AMS HT. When preparing multi color prints, Bambu Studio has prompted me place specific colors in AMS’s connected to each of the nozzles to reduce filament waste and save time. Because of this, I’ve connected 2 AMS 2’s to one nozzle and 1 AMS 2 and 1 AMS HT to the other nozzle. That way I can shuffle spools around as necessary.
I use a 4 way splitter to connect the AMS’s to each of the print heads. So I have 2 AMS 2’s connected via a splitter to thr left print head, and 1 AMS 2 and 1 AMS HT connected via another splitter to the right print head. I also have a spare tube connected to one of the unused inputs on each of the splitters for external spools if needed.
Regarding the bus cables, I daisy chain all the AMS’s together. That’s the only way to connect the AMS’s afaik.
Thats similar to what my plans are. Am thinking of putting PETG in the HT and PLA in the ASM2.
So far the only thing neither ASM or HT can do is feed TPU, has to be hand fed to the extruder, which if not mistaken is the head unit. I haven’t used any yet, nor have any, but from what I gather, the TPU should be dedicated to the left head only and be the only filament connected at that time.
THAT makes total sense. I just received most of mine but still waiting on my second AMS. Some guy said you need to connect the external roll to one side and the HT plus AMS’ to the other input. That made ZERO sense to me.
