I’ve never looked at my MW profiles, but I just did.
A bunch of them have enough downloads and prints to generate a decent amount of points, but since they haven’t been rated, they don’t deserve any points.
This surprised me as I always rate the profiles I use.
Why don’t you?
Might be better to ask if others rate profiles instead of assuming people don’t.
I rate profiles but unfortunately don’t download or print so many of other peoples’ models. Too busy with my own stuff which means I don’t get boosts to hand out either. But I have rated every model I’ve downloaded except for one complex print where holes were the wrong sizes etc. I left a comment instead of rating.
Something is lost in translation.
Here that expression hasn’t negative connotations. Sorry if it has in English.
If you’re referring to Print Profiles, I’d say its a mixture as there is a trend to just dump models with no PP and let others add often untested Profiles to grab the odd point or hundred.
Either way ratings have never been a big thing here and even the most popular models don’t have a good ratio. Even if MW monetised ratings it wouldn’t inspire true feedback, a good portion of people come here for free carp and not because they are passionate and want the place to thrive.
It’s no big deal. I shouldn’t have said anything.
I also rate profiles if I am allowed to give a rating. There were times when people couldn’t leave a rating. Maybe we shouldn’t look at the ratio of downloads / ratings, but at prints / ratings. Prints are less than downloads. As long as there are sites like yeggi that ask you to download a model here and send it to a print service provider, some people will only download without printing. This increases the number of downloads even more and you won’t get a rating on Makerworld for it. Only Makwerorld could provide statistics on ratings.
I run my printer in LAN-Only mode, which means MakerWorld doesn’t allow me to do ratings on anything. It only allows people to do ratings if they printed it through Bambu’s web services.
good point about LAN-Only !
I also see a low percentage of people rating my models/profiles. I believe people don’t bother usually with ratings when there is so much to print and maybe they are not that impressed with the models printed as they are spoiled with so many models to choose from.
I’m usually pretty good about posting makes, I just can’t put an actual rating on it.
I have a few items up. Nothing fancy at all. I get it. I have so few reviews but I manage to get the download milestones.
A guy like me would love to have reviews or ratings. I guess they suck.
Mine:
I am responding to an average of 100 ratings a day right now, it is difficult to keep up with them.
This is the problem of having a few recent popular models and a couple of very popular models.
Some people think I should remember their rating from this week when I respond to the one this week.
I do try, it helps if they have a unique username.
Others
I also try to rate the few things I print from others. I try to do those all on the same day though. This way I can try and provide photos if possible as I can get an in situ shot.
My latest model have these stats
but 0 ratings… I’m a bit puzzled.
Edit: yes, I liked it my self. I have no shame
Just after uploading, I always Like Collect, Download and Print my models.
The last two actions confirms there is no problem with the uploaded files.
I have a guess, released late in month, active users won’t get points for rating so they don’t? Watch the ratings fly in when the month flips again.
