(I wish) Bambu Lab Filament Maker & Shredder

I’ve been collecting and storing all my printer poop for about 2 years now and I’m starting to run out of space to keep it all. When I started I was thinking that within a year there would be a consumer friendly solution to shred and make filament at home …. this hasn’t happened yet.

However Creality is teasing us with a 2 unit system which I’m excited about: Creality Filament Maker M1 & Shredder R1 – Creality Filastudio

I wish Bambu Lab would make their own shredder and maker!

There is a good reason they are not popular.

It is just not worth it. Expensive, bad quality, high maintenence. Cheaper to just buy new spools.

It is not something you do to save money. It is just for fun.

Edit: I can also not trust a product that uses AI generated images to show off its capabilities.

Those all look like AI renders to me, not an actual product. I’ll believe it when I see it on some YouTuber’s bench.

Making usable, high-quality filament is harder than you might think, not something two shiny plastic boxes will be able to accomplish.

There is a few of these filament makers on the market all following the same desktop design ,

Please share what other filament makers on the market that you have seen!

This is the one I tried. Almost 1000 USD and it never worked well. But at least it was reliable.

There are many more out there but I do not trust a 200 dollar extruder off of aliexpress when proven ones are going for much more.

thanks. I’ve seen videos on youtube of makers trying to make their own but none of them look like reliable machines. There was also this: Loop - the world’s first desktop 3d filament maker but after a year, still nothing from them either.

Have a look for 3d printing academy on youtube , he uses one that mixes colourless pellets weighed and adds colour pellets that are also weighed out , mixed in a cement mixer , cooled over a long water tray before spooling , i think his system starts around $3,500

that may be the wrong channel name , but he does run one :upside_down_face:

I did a quick search on Youtube and ran into this. Skip the beginning and start from timestamp 4:00 to see how the strings come out

Sorry, can’t help
