Identical Remix Issue: Same Files, Same Description

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice. A user recently published a “remix” of my model that is practically identical to the original. Not only are the 3D meshes completely unmodified, but the user also copied my entire description text, simply translating it into their own language.

While I’m genuinely happy to see my design printed (I haven’t had the chance to print it myself yet due to other high-priority projects), I’m concerned about how this was handled.

The provided .3mf file is actually quite inaccurate for a few reasons:

  • Plate Orientation: I specifically designed every part to be printed without supports, requiring a precise orientation which was ignored.

  • Assembly: I created symmetrical parts split into two pieces to be joined with pins; however, in this user’s print profile, they were placed on the bed already assembled, which defeats the purpose of the original design.

The only real difference is that I uploaded the raw parts/files, whereas this user “adapted” them for AMS by assigning colors. On MakerWorld, this should have been uploaded as a Print Profile under my original model, not as a separate Remix.

Even though I’m glad the model is being realized, I’m not comfortable with the way my work was essentially cloned with zero effort. My own model is also a remix, but I spent significant time making practical and aesthetic improvements while staying true to the original.

What do you suggest I do in this situation? Should I contact the user or report it to the moderators?

Disney owns the copyright and the trademark of Wall-E. So you model starts with an IP infringement.

Your uploads has no photo of the printed model (because you have not printed it) which breaks the model image rule. You have until May 5, 2026 to add a photo or it can be taken down.

If you think the other model is exactly the same as yours, you can report it. Or they can report you for lacking the photo and have yours taken down and then theirs will be the legitimate model :slight_smile:

As @DWdesigns pointed out, I do not think you have any room to complain here because even your model violates others IP in one way or another.

… and of course they are all based on an IP that no one posting these models owns.

They are all under a CC license, so it the copying is not a big deal for the platforms, but I can not consider that good conduct.

All of these models are very similar. Even from the 1st remix to your remix, I do not see almost any changes. The only major changes that were made was in the first remix.
