If you believe the Lidar sucks, why?

Just curious to hear reasoning behind it, seems like some have some decent arguments against it, tyvm!

  1. Because auto-calibration yields random values for me
  2. Because manual calibration always gives better print quality for me
  3. Because even Bambu says so:

LIDAR doesn’t suck, it is adequate.

Default presets and auto calibration usually produce acceptable quality. I only use it to quickly print a part where appearance and exact dimensions are not critical, using a new-to-me filament.

Manual calibration of the filament and turning off auto-calibration usually produces better quality and always saves several minutes of preparation time on every print. Manual calibration does take time, but I’d rather take the time up front than spend it later, waiting for my prints to start or re-printing a failed part.
