Hi All
I have just installed a new AMS on my P1S.
All seems to be great except that I can’t properly see what happening and whether the prints are going OK.
The AMS sitting on top of the printer inevitably obscures 2/3 of the bed at the start of the print.
The light is so poor that I can’t identify failures for one reason or another and terminate the print.
I’m going to give the AMS some higher feet to expose more of the bed, but I think if I could just somehow increase the illumination that would help considerably.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and perhaps found a solution
Thanks
I think most people print a riser and place it on top of the P1S and put LED’s around the perimeter of the riser. Makes a huge difference. That was one of the very first things I made for my P1S. I just recently made a new riser for the printer since I have gained some experience modifying models using Fusion. Do a search on “Riser” in Makerworld or Printables and you will get probably hundreds of model options.
Because of the dimensions of bed and dimensions of printer it is a good candidate for printing overnight
I started with a printed riser above my P1S but that route is not practical if you get a second AMS. I subsequently built a rack using 2020 extrusion pieces along with drawer slides like you have on kitchen drawers. So now I have 3 AMS’s stacked above each other.
I just printed a riser whose sole purpose is to act as a carrier for LED lights all the way around perimeter of the printer. I massaged the model in Fusion to angle the lights a little towards the center of chamber.
Between MakerWorld and Printables there are probably hundreds of different riser model options
Thanks for your advice which is much appreciated.
You certainly have a neat solution for multiple AMS but I think I can probably manage with a 4+1 external configuration although it would be nice to have a second AMS dedicated to PETG. However I don’t have the height available as my storage racks are above the printer.
Initially I’ve gone with the “AMS glass sider riser version 6 by Sanja 3D” which seems well designed but I’ve already noticed that there’s no channel to accommodate an LED strip, just a flat vertical rim, despite a channel being identified in the assembly instructions. So the internal rim isn’t angled for the lights to point downwards. Maybe I’ll need to print an angled insert to attach the LED strip, however can you recommend a trimmable strip that can be cut to go around angled corners ?
For my next project I’m currently searching for a conductive printable filament with low electrical resistance, but so far without success with the only candidates at extortionate prices and using specialized printers.
If you are somewhat new to this adventure, some of these models can be used as a base to build off of. There are a few different free CAD software options that will broaden your horizons even more.
My first riser was was exactly as downloaded. No modifications whatsoever. With my new riser, the downloaded model was a base I built off of. I use Fusion which you can get the super basic version for free but it is very basic. I have the next tier up which is paid. Lots of folks on this forum use Blender which is very capable right out of the box.
Here is what I did. I put the LED’s on the lower chamfer so they angle inward.
I can. It has some minor issues I did not know how to fix at the time.
The basic model is on Printables and I used Fusion to grow it in the Z axis but I have the modified files in .stl format if that works. Also it is 4 files.

I tried to reply by email, unsuccessfully. Thanks for responding, most don’t. All this is new to me, just got a p1s and was looking for a slimline riser with vents and LED lights that are available.
I have not forgotten about your request. I will set myself a reminder and send it your way by DM if you still are interested. Im notorious about burying myself in projects to the exclusion of all else and that is the case here.
I made a filament winder/rewinder a while back and am in the process of upgrading it. I mostly stick with BL filaments but occasionally have a need for filament BL either does not have at all, or don’t have in color I want so for example I will put 3rd party cardboard spools on a BL Spoll and that is my current project.
As far as LED lighting, the LED’s came from Bambu Labs store. They sell a Spool of white LED’s that need to be affixed to riser.
Be aware that the enclosure dimensions of any of the BL printers mean you have to print the riser in typicall 4 separate prints because build plate is smaller that printer housing.
I have wondered about a spool reminder also as I prefer Esun filaments which are on cardboard spools, just seems like a lot of trouble. No worries, still trying to figure out what I need to do, I’ll be printing PLA and PETG most of the time anyway.
