Hi everyone,
I’m completely new to 3D printing and I’m currently a bit confused about how filament profiles work in Bambu Studio. I own a P2S with AMS 2 Pro.
I recently received a spool of eSUN PETG (Purple) and downloaded the official profile files from the manufacturer’s website (JSON files for both filament and process settings). I successfully imported them into Bambu Studio.
However, my issue is not the import itself, but understanding how everything is supposed to work together.
What I want is simple:
-
Create a custom filament entry called “eSUN PETG Purple”
-
Use the manufacturer-provided settings for it
But I don’t understand:
-
How exactly imported profiles relate to custom filament presets
-
Why the imported profiles do not simply appear as selectable filament options
-
Whether I am supposed to manually copy the values into a custom filament
-
Or if there is a way to directly convert or assign imported profiles into a usable filament preset
Right now it feels like:
-
filament profiles
-
and process/print profiles
are separate systems, and I’m missing how they are meant to be combined properly.
In short:
What is the correct workflow when you have manufacturer profiles but want to end up with a properly named custom filament that appears in the filament dropdown?
Thanks in advance!
