Importing Blender multi color 3mf file into Bambu Studio is problematic

Hi,

I made a simple model with 3 objects in different colors, each on top of the other with blender 5.0, and exported it as 3mf file. When opening the file in bambu studio I can see the scattered objects and able to control them, but all the objects are compressed down to the floor, NOT enable me to move them up, as in the original model.

What should I do in order to solve this problem?

Many Thanks in advance

If you merge the objects in studio, you can then select them individually in the Object inspector and alter their Z location.

I haven’t used Blender 3MF export but have good luck with this workflow:

  • Select all objects for one part in Blender
  • Export as OBJ - make sure it’s only exporting the selection and that Color and Triangulate Mesh are selected
  • In your file browser, select all of the OBJs and drag them into studio together
  • Choose Yes when Studio asks if you want to import the objects as one

This preserves the relative positions of the objects and you can still adjust them individual using the object inspector

Hi MaKim,

Thanks for your kind response.

I did my best to follow your workflow…

As for the “Prepare” stage in Studio, it seems that I was doing OK.

But then after slicing, I got an empty layer.

Thanks.

This is likely due to an issue with the mesh in Blender. You can try disabling “triangulate mesh” on the export for that particular part. Alternately, I’d recommend enabling the 3D Print addon, selecting the part & then using the “Make Manifold” action before re-exporting the OBJ to re-import into Studio

Hi MaKim,

Thanks for your prompt response.

Unfortunately, it did not work for me.

1st option - The “Triangulated Mesh” was already checked out in my previous obj export.

2nd option - The re-import to Studio - failed.

By the way, in the meantime I used a rough workaround:

I took a 2D Image of the model and then used the MakerLab - Image to 3D Model.

The outcome is not too bad.

Thanks

Hi MaKim,

One month later…and I wish to thank you.

Your workflow for exporting multicolor model from Blender and importing it to Studio is Priceless.

My Best Regards.
