Hello everyone! I just bought a P1S and had typical beginner problems. For my first ABS print i used the Bambulab ABS and bambu settings (quality 0.16 high quality), print was ok but with some defects in the surface and quite bad connection between the surfaces. Second try with preheating inside between 40-50C, much better results. Third try preheating, isolation on the glass plate up and component fan down to 10%, overhang 20%, again improvement. But that last print gave me results i dont undestand, so i write in the community now:
in the biggest part you can see that the right side and front side surface is perfect (like i printed PLA). strangely the left side and back surface have everywhere little defects. In addition in the big circular section up there are defects in the seam, in the circular section down nothing. Could be that the other printed parts on the plate however affect the print of the big part?
Another thing: the upper surface of the big part should be smoothed. You can see that aprox. the first cm from right it worked and also a bit more down but then seems like it stopped…?
I see a lot of bubbles. Meaning your filament is “soaking” wet. To the point that water when come in contact with nozzle, it expands and bursts, creates voids and scars on your print.
A little moisture can make the print stringy but in your case it is quite much more than a little.
ABS needs to be dried before print. I think with that spool, you need to dried it at least 10 hours at 80°C. Well, dry time also depends on air humidity on that day, say if it is 80-90% RH on rainny day, you are not drying filament at all, even though you run dryer for 20 hours.
Ah ok?! I thought when the filament is fresh out of the box it should be dry?! (the filament was printed directly after opening it from the drybag) I read about drying filament but i thought this you have to do when the filament is maybe weeks and months open?
I did another closer picture, that are surely bubbles because of wet filament?
In some cases filament can be pretty dry out of the box, but it varies greatly. Not only on the brand and type of filament, but even the batch of filament you get.
I think this problem is absolutely wet filament. If you have other problems drying your filament first is a great first step as many people will tell you to try drying it even if the issue has nothing to do with wet filament!
ok, thanks for the answers! So as first step i will try to dry the filament in the oven. Next week i will update if i could improve with that. If the issue is because of wet filament, how it can be that two sides look very good and the other two not?
