Inconsistent first layer lines

Hi guys,

if you look at the two pictures, you can see one picture shows a nice smooth surface and then in the corner of the other we have layer lines.

When adding paint you can see the layer lines clearly.

I have tried different filament and bed temperatures and build plates.

I’m trying to get a nice consistent smooth surface on my first layer and it seems like it’s almost impossible. I have reduce line width as well - for the most part, the print comes out fine, but the inconsistency of the layer lines is baffling me. Why can’t it be consistent all around?

Any suggestions Are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It seems that the solution that works for me is the engineering plate with PLA basic filament- the previous print I was using PLA black Matte so it might be a difference in temperatures and flow but PLA basic so far is working as expected.

Problem is I can’t get any black right now they’re out of stock so I tried yellow and it worked.
