Inconsistent Top Layer Quality Between Two Identical P1 Printers

Hello everyone,

We own two identical Bambu Lab P1 printers and slice our parts on both printers using the same settings. However, we have a problem: while the first printer produces a perfectly clean top layer and smoothing works flawlessly, the top layer on the second printer is rough, and the smoothing does not reach the quality of the first printer.

We have already tried various manual calibrations, adjusting the flow, and other settings, but unfortunately without improvement.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or what else we could try? We appreciate any suggestions!

Thank you in advance!

You might try switching the bed plates between the printers, just to see if it is an adhesion issue.

It could be extruder tension.
There is a spring loaded tension screw on the extruder that can be adjusted.
You have to remove the stupid extruder to adjust though.
Unless you drill a hole in the extruder/hotend housing like I did. ; )

I think BL should have just designed the housing with access to the screw.
