I have succesfully inserted square magnets into prints. Simply pause the print just before the lid is about to be printet.
However I would now like to use a ball magnet. 2 challenges occurs (at min.). To insert the ball I have to pause it midway. This means that I need some kind of space between the ball and the upper part of the chamber - but how much?
Also there might be a problem as the printhead should NOT move across the chamber as it would then hit the magnet. Any thoughts on this?
I understand that I could just make a square chamber where the ball would just fit. However I would like the ball magnet to be as close to the outer walll and the outer wall is a bigger ball.
microsoft 3d builder has an “extrude” tool that can help in this, but for a simple sphere you can do it in a million easy ways
Your cavity needs to be a sphere, with a cylinder on top. ball rolls down the cylinder, sits in its hole.
make the cylinder exactly radius tall and it should fit flush to top…
Use a small dot of fast dry superglue to tack the magnet in place so it isnt tempted to your hotend (or to roll into the void if you leave a large area), and then just let it bridge over the hole
