Irrelevant Maker's Beginner Kit Entries

The top trending model in the contest has nothing to do with the contest. I reported it, but as it’s by a verified designer they chose to ignore my report. I reported a couple other models which got removed, but this one stayed. It only uses a Hygrometer, and I’m pretty sure there isn’t one in the Maker’s Beginner Kit box that’s sitting on my desk right now. I’ve reported a different one that only uses a walking mechanism and we’ll see if that gets taken down. MakerWorld, consider programmatically removing all models without the kits. This is the easiest contest to moderate because whether or not it’s related is straightforward data.

A fair amount of them don’t actually use the Beginner’s kit. I saw a few that use like one part from the kit too, which I think kind of goes against the idea of the beginner kit.

(edit to clarify) I meant one part from the kit in addition to a bunch of other hardware not from the kit.

Just wait until one of the winners is a model of a articulated sitting figure with a candle holder.

Mark my words

That’s good enough imho  Let them bee :honeybee:

Nah, even most of the example models on the Kit’s page use just one item from the kit.

I think the idea of the kit is good, the parts chosen in it allow for printing and assembling quite broad set of models and that’s good for beginner’s kit.

I think people just don’t read the contest rules. And they think it’s a competition for beginners… :woman_facepalming:

I remember that I reported it as well (along with other models) and it’s the same as in your case - some others were removed but this one is still there. The interesting thing is all models using a hygrometer haven’t been removed…

EDIT: That’s weird… I checked again and it looks like they left models that use any item from the store, like Clock Components Kit etc.

Ah you misunderstood what I meant. I mean, an object that uses a bunch of hardware, but only one component is part of the beginner kit. To me that goes against the idea of what the kit is suppose to do, which is give an introduction of the hardware without having to make additional purchases.

I was gonna post up that nas rasperry pi case as an example, but that doesn’t even use hardware from the beginner kit! Ha! Ahh.

Yup! Like mine  But like I said, I meant that comment more towards models that use one component from the beginner kit, in addition to a bunch of other hardware that isn’t part of the kit. I think if it only uses one or a couple of the parts, that’s completely fine!

(all my opinions, of course)

That might bee, is friday, I tired, english is my 4th language  (and even the english itself is 3 malformed languages in a trenchcoat)

OH, ya! Then complete 100% agree! A thingie in the “begginer kit contest” should use ONLY the items found in the beginner kit.

If you don’t know it already, i’ll let you know. Makerworld loves to let big number creators to do what they want and it’s already proved by themselves in other topics.

I also reported it but, as always, i am not confident that it will be removed. Big numbers bring big traffic to the website. That’s the model here.

Be happy that is not AI slop

Strictly speaking, a contest for the Beginner Kit should use only parts from that kit. This is like a 3rd grade math competition should not allow the use of 5th grade methods. But the theme may have been expanded to include any kits, which is fine too if clearly stated so.

There are still 17 days left in the contest, so if one can order the kit now and get it in the next few days it may still be doable. It will be helpful if @MakerWorld can clarify.

I saw that one can get the Beginner Kit for 110 points. But I am more interested in the Essential Kit which also has a good deal going on right now. If models that use the Essential Kit can be in then I may want to get the Essential Kit instead of the Beginner Kit.

Oh, that’s great! @MakerWorld should add more 99% off coupons to point store!

Especially for hardware kits, Maker’s kits (curently Befinner and Essential) and if they’d add lithopane CMYK+LED backing coupon it’d make a killing… (and thinks like Filament Bundles…)

Grab it! It’s awesome. But overwhelming… I have an idea but I’d also need a small fan and grab some high-temp filament…

You have to begin somewhere…

Get it?

As long as you begin with a part from the kit

oh trust me i did report a lot for not using at least 1 part of the kit, and if you have noticed some of the top one especially the top 2 they have a publish date 4 days before the date of contest, which i did report too but no response.

now…from what i can see, makerworld might not remove them due to little designs are related to contest so that the page wouldn’t look empty, and from the begging this contest is only a marketing method to make either designers or users to buy the kit…only out of hope of having some unique designs, but i don’t see anything worth buying the kit for.

so take it easy, the ones without the kit being used will not qualify.

I’m waiting for the vault contest i know there is one designer here who has really worth posting for that contest…even the one i’m working on currently wont reach his level.

With 99% off coupon from point store the beginner kit is worth it for the magnets themselves alone :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, that’s a good idea! Let me go design one real quick and submit it.

One has to spend the reward points to get the 99% off coupon, ie. buy the 99% off coupon with the points. The Essential Kit, which normally costs $149, is a better deal at 1200 points.

Indeed, essential kit coupon for 1200 points is best value: there’s a 0.1229 dollars per point. However assuming Beginner Kit costs $9.99 and cupon costs 110 points then the coupon is 0.0899 dollars per point. $40 giftcard is worst option: 0.0816 dollars per point.

Calculations change depending on region due to differences in coupon point prices and item prices.
