Hey guys i have made now several Prints.
Ive Printed for the moment ABS , profile are ABS Generic, at standart speed.
It looks like the first layer , also the other layer, runs with less flow, but at the profile nothing are changed , running at 0.95 flow standart.
So would you say to recalibrate filaments , if you running it first time on the Machine?
Also the first layer and other layer looks not closed . Should i get it more flow? I mean run an full filament calibrate?
If it is not a bambu filament my rule of thumb is to run a full calibration the first time around. Print, then readjust.
Its easier to buy their tuned filament… usually.
If you are using a third party filament, it would be a best practice to calibrate the filament, the first time you are using it.
Your first start would be to use the Bambu or the Generic profile to start with, and work from there.
Temperature, Flow Ratio are definitely factors that can differ a lot between different vendors.
Okay clear, yeah , i was thinking the machine does an calibrate for it alone, but i was thinking wrong , now i could understand why the machine print like that, it looks flow are not enough
The dynamic flow calibration is not the same as the flow ratio calibration.
This first one is to compensate pressure buildup in the nozzle.
Flow ratio depends on the diameter of the filament, that might require adjustments in the flow ratio.
But for most third party filaments I have used, generally I did not have to play with the flow ratios. However, temperature is one that often needs to be adjusted.
yeah but at this third party brand , it was an gift from an friend , the generell profile looks not enough

Those 3 things will get you 99% of the way there for any PLA.
When you say you don’t need to calibrate the flow ratio, have you actually measured your wall thickness, or are you just looking at the print and assuming calibration isn’t required?
Every spool I’ve used has needed fine-tuning. They may look perfectly fine at a glance, but once measured, the numbers clearly show that calibration was necessary.
I mentioned that in general I didn’t have to adjust the flow ratio. I didn’t say, I never did.
If the accuracy/quality of the part requires it, I will definitely do it.
But I am not adjusting it, when the result is not affected by a slight deviation.
For translucent filament for instance, it is required to have a perfect flow ratio.
I also started with saying the Flow Ratio can differ.
I think this is the second time I’ve agreed with you. I have only ever did any flow ratio calibrations when I’ve printed a functional part, usually with filled filament. Like you I see no reason to chase something that will be irrelevant in the end. The past 12 hours I’ve completed 24 ornaments with BBL out of the box. All but 2 were great, the other 2 wobbled. I can confidently sell them.
I also mainly use BBL, or their profiles for the silk.
Calibrate every spool every time. If you want the best results possible that is. If you have a second spool of the same material and color, a quick test print to verify settings are still good will confirm if another calibration is needed.
Everyone keeps saying “if it’s third party filament”, but I say even if it’s bambu filament do it. I’ve had plenty of Bambu filament that was way different than what the Bambu profile provides. Bambu’s profiles are pretty generic.
I may simply expect a more predictable result than most users, which is why I always calibrate. I’ve never had a single Bambu Lab filament that didn’t require some fine-tuning.

Yeah i was only asking because you really see it on the third party brand of abs , but , with that brand iam only printing manage boxes , that not need to be perfect. I will see when i used my prefer ABS of sunlu than makes calibration sense because these brand i use the most. Also i need to to an whole bed first layer print to see if there any issue.
