I received my Cryogrip Pro Frosbite and Glacier and Textured PEI/ PET Carbon Fiber Plates about 10 days ago. Now i have time to give them a try.
Do I need to perform Printer Calibration whenever i placed them? Also which plate i should chose for them in BS? I would like to create different profiles for them but i think iti is not possible.
I know these plates are very new and not many people had chance to try them. My question is not specific for them. What do you do when you place a (any) non-BL plate in general. I did not measured them but all of them felt lighter and thinner than default BL Textured PEI. So i assume both resonance and Z height will change. I am not sure auto bed leveling will be sufficient. I saw a few videos showing scratching on plates or warping of the models etc.
I have not bought the BIQU plates you are wondering about but I do have a garolite plate which is very thick. Smooth also but it was plug and play.
To get an idea how thick it is, the back side is heavy gauge sheet metal that does not flex at all.
As far as different plates and what I do, I don’t do anything. I can go from that thick garolite plate to the thinnest plate and any in between, other than the obligatory washing, I just put it on bed and go.
Is this part of tech supports suggestion to change belts?
Because of using Lidar on X Series and load cell on P Series it may not need a special calibration because of thickness. I bought Bambu’s version of the BIQU plate , the Bambu Cool Plate SuperTack, and there was no mention of calibration
One thing you have to be careful of with any plate that says it is Bambu compatible is to make sure there is clearance between the right front corner of the purge chute and the nozzle cleaning device on the back of the plate.
I made a modified nozzle wiper that overhangs the purge chute so have had to take snips to the area inside the blue circle with the red line being what I removed.
I checked that. They are identical. The BIGU plates are slightly wider than the original, less than 1 mm. This did not cause any problems. They can sit on the heatbed without an issue.

Similar to what i mention in my OP, due to different thickness, material and weight, it recommended me to do printer self calibration. It mentioned that not only the thickness but the resonances would change that calibration would re-adjust its setting accordingly. I calibrated anyway. Test prints went OK. When I switched back to the original Textured PEI i recalibrated as well. So i do not know if the quality or anything will be different with or without calibration. I will not have much time for longer prints after a few weeks time that i am trying to complete my back log of large print project before then. Once i finish them i will start comparison tests.
The short version is that I had some errors recently that had to do with z-axis and the text of fault makes me think that in addition to the pre-print bed leveling routine, that same routine validates the position of the nozzle tip to the build plate.*
