Is the X2D right for pla/petg(support) only?

hello,coming from a1 mini,rl interested in the pla/petg support interface without waste,will the x2d be right for me?or does it still create waste?like would i be able to turn of the prime tower(waste)?thnx

Using a second material as a support is exactly what the X2D is made for, though I believe that the prime tower is required. It helps regulate the pressure in the nozzle if I am correct.

I printed a lot of PLA/PETG with support the last days with the X2D. Purging waste happens only on the initial loading of both nozzles. No further purging needed.
The prime tower on the other hand is important. I’m not sure if you can disable it. But I wouldn’t recommend it anyway. Especially the aux nozzle with its bowden extruder needs some extra time to build up the right pressure.

i get it,but a model of 12g,needs total 57g with prime tower,so still lots of waste

yeah sadly all offerings from bambu have a lot of waste. I normally disable the prime tower on my H2D if I dont care about perfect finish

Hmm, prime towers are not exclusive to BL. Even a tool changer makes use of it for a reason. And yes, if you don’t care about a flawless finish, you may leave it away.
But on the X2D with its bowden extruder on the aux nozzle the negative impact of doing so will be higher than on a direct extruder.
The TO discussed the support interface. Regarding to the actual model a support interface can be quite small - without prime tower you may miss most of it… As always: it depends

I have a question as I am new to the 3d printer world and have an X2D. Would it make more sense with the X2D to print the entire support out of say PETG when doing a PLA print? If not what settings should I use for interface?

Welcome to the forum.

It’s faster to just print the interface layer out of the other material as this requires substantially less filament changes. If you print support fully in a different material the filament has to be changed each layer, all the way up the part. While this is faster using a dual nozzle system like the X2D it still is longer than printing solely with one nozzle up until the support layer.
