Pretty new to 3d printing, I am using a P1s (no AMS) printer using PLA in Bambu Studio. I downloaded the files for this print here in Makerworld. The picture looks very much like the green is printed in place, there are 3 trees placed evenly around the circumference. Unless the ring is printed first, then mounted to the build plate on its side to add the green trees one at a time, I don.t see any way this is possible. Even then the concave shape would likely interfere with the nozzle. I would love to hear some thoughts if anyone thinks this is doable, I am puzzled.
if the model allows - separate out the trees form the ring, print the ring with indents and trees separately in separate colors, then glue them together
Get an AMS for P1S - looks like the black friday sale is up till Dec 3 and it’ll ship (in eu region at least) by Dec 13th.
Johnny, Thanks for the reply. If I were to have the AMS wouldn’t it have to change colors every layer in the tree area? If that is true it seems like it would take a very long time to print and create a huge amount of purge waste?
Thank you Malc . I took a quick look at the Bambu site and it is listed at $250, which I believe is the usual price. I could have bought it with the printer for $150 but really didn’t see the need. I suppose technically this would work, particularly if I ran a plate full. The wife wants at least 24 so that would mitigate the waste to some degree. I have printed the trees separately and they are fussy little buggers. I am sure as my manual support skills improve they will not be so bad, but using default auto supports made it impossible to separate the trees without breaking them.
There are benefits to AMS and one of them is having to print “at least 24” of such items - the waste stays contstant, but is shared among the 24 items instead of just 1 so the print-to-waste ratio is waaaay better.
No, but I can get close. I’ve redesigned it with a new method that prints in two parts. The outer ring is just the ring with holes for the trees. The inner ring has the trees coming out of it so they’ll perfectly slot into the outer ring. Files and photos soon!

Nice. Yours is flat and the OP wanted a curved one, which would be far more difficult to resolve in the same way the flat cylinder makes the insertion far easier.
