After dealing with my first clog, I’m trying to mitigate this in the future. I’m thinking of keeping the AMS/ right extruder as all PLA, since that’s what I’ll use for multi color prints. Then I was going to keep the left extruder as ABS, and any multi color prints would just be single color per plate type prints. I would not try to print with both at the same time (I think studio even forbids this)
But I keep seeing conflicting information about residual PLA that might reside in the tool heads or right extruder during an ABS print, and how even with the AMS2 filament retracted, the chamber heat might still clog them.
Is this a real concern? I would just print ABS, but nearly everything in bambu handy is pla, so it makes it slightly less convenient to need to pop into bambu studio to switch it to ABS and reslice.
But after my clog yesterday, if my proposed setup is going to create another clog, I might just switch to only ABS to not deal with that headache.
So is ABS left extruder, PLA right extruder safe (assuming the pla has been retracted, but not flushed during an ABS print)?
