So am i to understand that everyone that has a model that has been on the makerworld site and others and has never been in a contest but has a couple of hundred dl’s or likes still gets to use this model in said contest as long as its never entered one and never won a prize? Im new and have 39 models that are MY work and would like to know my shots as far as stats are concerned. Is it rare or is it something that happens over time that makes you a big shot here… just to let you know, ive seen some spotty work get some big gains…
To make them more popular, you could add them to the recent 3d prints thread. Or do like a couple other people and start a whole new print thread just for your stuff. I would suggest keeping it all in the original prints thread though. Imagine if everybody copied the 2 people.
I apologise as I am struggling to work out exactly what your question is.
I think you are asking “can I enter a contest with an existing model if I have never entered that model before into a contest?”
If so, the answer is “you can only enter a model into a contest if it falls into the qualifying period.” This sometimes means 24 hours before a contest is launched. In reality, if you created and published a model prior to a contest launch it is unlikely to qualify.
In general, if you wish to enter a contest, the earlier you enter your model after its launch the more likely you will gain visibility and visibility increases the potential for downloads. People are fickle, as soon as a new contest launches, the shine of the first one fades quickly.
If you are asking how to become successful, it depends on so many factors. Luck is a huge part of the game.
In my experience, the thumbnail people see is part of the potential for success. A well staged photo with decent font choices and several of these on the model page helps greatly.
The model name is also a key point. Make it pop, too long and it gets cut off and unreadable in the lists.
Do not go overboard on tags, less is more here, make them relate directly to the title.

Thank you so much for clearing that up for me. I am mistaken and was under the assumption artist/designers ect. had more than a 24 hour period. Thank you for your time sir.
that is valid. tbh i get paranoid even showing my friends what im working on day to day. i had a small contract with the company that supplies to the u.s.p.s. and was under contract with my partner as well (one of 2 financial backers), long story short, the contract was terminated in 6 months from a breach of contract on my “partner’s” behalf. he screwed me. hindsight is 20/20

Yeah, sh1t happens, and whent it does, its “byproducts” do not always fall on the other side of the fence… I feel both your loss…and the paranoia (the later I do feel it more)…
