Over the last week I’ve been struggling with getting good quality prints out of large PAHT-CF parts. I’ve had the same issue across 3 different H2Ds.
Looking at the first few layers, the left side of the prints looks good but the right hand side consistently looks bubbly as seen below.
Things I’ve tried (0.4mm nozzle, stock PAHT-CF profile):
- fully drying the filament with a HT AMS
- Bed level (automatic and by hand) as well as nozzle offset calibration
- tried 3 different printers.
- Tried printing on both the LHS and RHS nozzle.
- Put clips on the edge of the bed to hold it down and limit warping
- Several different layer height settings.
- Increased bed temperature to 110 deg.
I’m not sure what else to do, some help would be appreciated.

This is a brand new spool that has been dried with a HT AMS beforehand. If it was wet why would the LHS consistently look okay across 3 different printers?
Oh you’re printing with right nozzle? It’s not supposed to be printed through the right nozzle because the PTFE tube bends too much and causes extrusion issues. Only left nozzle is compatible with these extra brittle / hard filaments
PAHT-CF should be OK in either left or right, they just recommend against the use of 0.4 nozxle. PET-CF is another thing along with PPA-CF and PPS-CF.
At least I print with both left and right without problem but larger prints of PAHT-CF is prone to micro warping effecting the whole print quality.

I let the print finish on the left nozzle this time and there was a huge improvement. I’m still battling the part wrapping and bending the whole build plate.
I’ve printed clips to hold the bed down and allow the part to cool to ambient temperature before taking it off the bed but it’s still wrapped.
I do not notice any difference in print quality between the left and right nozzle when using PAHT-CF.
Warping is not an issue in my case, since I am extremely generous with glue.
I use CFX build plates, which normally require glue for almost everything, yet I can print on nearly the full build area with PAHT-CF without problems.
However, I still prefer not to risk the part losing adhesion, so to speak.
I have never seen adhesion strong enough to bend the build plate, so I am not sure how to reproduce that behavior.
Which type of build plate are you using?
