Laser 10w vs 40w

man i was convinced it would come with both, i think i even saw one of the youtubers saying that the fully loaded version would come with both

Looking into the software now. Looks good.

For the price and the ways its described, nothing suggesting it doesnt. So wil lask them to confirm it does.

Maybe it would? I don’t know enough about lasers to know how much of a difference this point makes. I mostly just assumed they sent everything to each youtuber because… views? Something, haha.

The laser units looked separately packaged in all instances I saw it though, so, hmm.

let’s see… i hope you’re wrong, but now looking at the what’s included in the box it kind leaves it in a grey area, but it might be one or the other, i hope it isn’t though, as they serve different purposes

Maybe true because they sent everybody the filter needed and an ams ht, which neither come with the full package. I think the lasers are always seperately packaged

Over a decade ago I used to teach laser cutting at a makerspace. I taught on $25,000 to $75,000 industrial machines. The lowest powered one was 45w. Once we got the 100w ones, I never wanted to touch the 45w again. So much faster! The 10w is fine for light engraving on wood, acrylic, etc, but cutting anything more than paper or cardboard is going to take for ever, if even possible. I think the 10w will not be enough for most people’s uses.
The most important thing is to really know what materials are safe to laser, and which ones aren’t. There are materials that will instantly put out a toxic gas, that can rust your machine in a few minutes, and if you or your pets breath it, good luck surviving that. Remember that lasers burn things. Never walk away from a running job. Fires will happen, and you want to be able to put it out within a second or 2, because in one minute, the whole room could be on fire.

The price jump makes it seem you would get both.

The 10W combo, with all the same extraction fans, plates, cutter head and additioan hardware is identical to the 40W combo its just the head price.

If you assume the Laser head is 70% of that cost, then the follow head prices apply:

10W Head only = ÂŁ350
40W Head only = ÂŁ950

Doesnt seem likely.

Not to disregard safety, as one 100% should be keeping an eye on the machine when it’s in use for reasons such as this, but the H2D does have safeties. When a fire is detected, the machine will sound a loud alarm and close off all it’s air intakes to try to deprive the fire of oxygen. It’s also composed of a flame retardant interior, and has an optional automated fire extinguisher.

While I would like to believe that the standard user won’t leave the machine while it’s running, if someone is foolish enough to go use the bathroom for a bit and a flame starts hopefully the worst thing they come back to is a ruined printer

I think more accurately, the machine “Should” do those things, not “will”.
The auto detect spaghetti and other things like that in my X1C don’t always catch that, so I wouldn’t rely on it for safety purposes.

Even if it doesn’t detect it for a 15-30 seconds, depending on what material you are using, the fire could get bad enough to cause permanent damage to the machine.

but is the h2d a co2 or a semicundoctor

It’s a diode laser.

C02 lasers have big liquid cooled tubes.

and why the h2d laser has another tube beside the power cord

I think you’re talking about the “air assist”. You need air blowing directly where the laser is burning. It cuts down on the material looking burned where the laser hits it.

where is the air pump that feeds the air asist

I’m not sure. On the FAQ it says the air pump will be built in on the combo unit but external on the upgrade kit. I found this picture of the hose going in between the two filament inputs, but I couldn’t find a picture with anything that looked like an air pump.

Edit I found this too, it looks to have a lot things working together. Pretty neat.

Images pulled from the testing/maintenance page and rewritten to look like testimonial instead of a shakedown preprod unit test and what you should expect if you don’t F’n clean for 40hrs straight cutting. I hate people.

the bl website says that there is a flame detection sensor in the h2d
and a optional co2 fire extigusher

where can u buy the extinguishing mod

tnx

Probably will become available along with the rotary tool
