How often is it actually necessary to fully disassemble the laser module?
I’ve only done about 40 minutes of total work with it, mostly engraving and only about 1–2 minutes of actual cutting in plywood.
Is it really expected to take the laser apart completely after such a short usage time?
Even though I really like the laser for what it is, the maintenance requirements feel a bit excessive.
What are your experiences with other lasers—do they also require full disassembly after just 40 minutes of runtime, with only a few minutes of cutting involved?
Yes, but spending 10 minutes on cleaning for every few minutes of cutting quickly adds up to hours.
I’ve printed the removal tool and plan to do the maintenance this weekend – just need to make the most of the good weather for some fun in the sky first.
I got a good 4 hours before it asked me to do maintenance. I only etch metal though. when the lens gets dusty, the quality and strength of the etch plummets. I dont think the air assist is powerful enough to clear it away. Or its not working. I dont think theres a way of testing it.
