Laser Upgrade kit looking interesting but

As a former smoker I am well aware that regular exposture smoke will cake on everything it touches. Regular maintenance aside and my imagination running wild here, thanks for bearing with me.

I am curious if there if anyone has made or looking into an add on that could sit somewhere between the laser module and upper gantry / gear. I believe there should be means of a reducing how much smoke the upper gear gets exposed to. Less smoke the belts and rods are exposed to over time the longer they will last. Some sort of flexible contraption to allow for the laser module to move about freely.

Maybe i’m over thinking stuff

The device needs to be cleaned after every use anyway, and this also applies to other laser models.

Residues, etc., should be removed for fire safety reasons alone.

I wouldn’t use the H2D for woodworking, in particular, as it creates a lot of dirt, and my H2D still smells of burnt wood two weeks after the last laser test with wood.

My opinion: if you plan on using the laser a lot, you shouldn’t get an H2D, but rather a real laser.

The smoke is directed downward onto the laser platform and only then evacuated through the chamber fan. This means the smoke disperses throughout the chamber before it is removed.

I’ve lasered a little bit, some PU etching and then a small wooden box - not exactly heavy duty use in the 964 hours of use recorded on the printer.
Been running external extraction on it and the wood cutting did make a slot of smoke which was soon exhausted.
Cleaned the printer after with lint free wipes and alcohol and didn’t see any residue on the wipes at all, same with the exhaust fan area etc, mostly dust but no residue.
I’ve got space issues (don’t have any) and wanted the ability to occasionally laser stuff.
