I’m reading the updated guidelines and it’ll be fun if they’ll try to enforce some of them
First thing I’ve noticed in community guidelines:
- Misinformation in model listings, posts, images, print profile listings or comments
- Exaggeration of model functionalities
- Using misleading phrases such as “Best, Top, Official” in model or print listing
Which makes me wonder that starting from 1st Jan the model discussed in Doo I report this is report-worthy
“great quality” my arse
(btw: I hate the word misinformation - it’s totally unnecessary newspeak that should go away. “deception” “misleading” or “lies” are perfectly fine words, why not use them instead?)
Another fun one is:
Lottery and other promotional activities without authorization
Which should put an end to fake giveaways in community tab… But unfortunately the sentence above is “provided in the description models including”
Oh! This’ll wipe TONS of posts in the community tab:
8. Prohibited cheating activities such as:
[…]
- Inducing or fraudulent activities such as boosting, liking, rating, printing, downloading, collecting, or commenting in exchange for monetary or other form benefits
- Deliberately generating invalid or malicious traffic
Same section: AI Gen covers nuke incoming (that is - if enforced):
Any other form of cheating or deceptive behavior
It looks like print profile guidelines haven’t changed.
In regards to Exclusive Model Guidelines it seems a bit better… Now ALL the Hueforges and Lithopanes are excluded and examples given of what will be removed. They also clarified situation with “v2” vs “new model” in their view:
For example, V2/V3 of the same filament clip or orange peeler. If it’s an entirely new design, rename it as a new model but not using the same name and adding a V2. Only enter one version into the program. Other versions of the same model will be removed for not meeting the requirement for originality.
So - if you improved slightly your model that’s exclusive: update profile, don’t get “new model boost”, if you rebuilt your model from scratch: congrats on your totally new model
Interesting, updates going in somewhat understandable direction, still far cry from good objective rules, but it’s and improvement nevertheless.
