I’m here for support. Very frustrated, I need to do some tutorial before posting. I have already spent hours looking through forms, trying new prints, settings etc. Asked ChatGPT, tried new filament and calibrations. I’ve done plenty of leg work, and my Bambu product’s performance doesn’t remotely match the cost. The support is also now embarrassing. On to my actual problem, this layer blob. Which I can’t seem to get rid of, any ideas, thoughts, proclamations of how much of an idiot I am. Really let’s have ANYTHING.

I want to have seam position on random, I don’t want one corner fatter, but that seam evenly spread everywhere. Using that setting or not I get large blobs on every single layer. The issue is not moisture related The artifact shows up with 1% moisture 5% moisture 8%, 9%, etc. all the way up to 20% moisture which is the highest I’ve tried. The artifact has showed up in every single print with a 0.4 nozzle but not the 0.2 nozzle or the 0.8 nozzle. The problem seems to be settings related with the 0.4 nozzle profile.

I had this issue with my 0.6 and 0.8 nozzles and it was because of my retraction settings - I recommend gradually dropping your retraction value until the “zits” disappear. It’s a long process but it really helped. The random seam can also cause this issue, but if you rotate your model, you can place it on a corner and it’ll be far less visible than a flat face. Be sure to use the seam position of back for this to work too.

When the filament arrives from Bambu it’s usually around 20%, I’ll do a print which has defects then turn on the AMS to dry over night and try again the next day. The moisture drops 5% or so and then I print again and there’s still defects. Repeat and repeat all the way down to 1% moisture after drying for 30 cumulative hours and there are still giant blobs. Problem doesn’t seem to vary with moisture level.

I did read that Bambu changed default retraction from 0.8mm to 0.4mm recently. I’ll test this one out tonight.

Gotcha, I figured. It was written in a way that had me wondering if you were going the other way.
