I have been using a P1s with AMS for a year now. I’ve recently decided to upgrade the a Hardened Steel Nozzle 0.4 and a Hardened Extruder Gear. I’ve switch a couple of months back, but because I was having the issue I am going to shortly described below I switched back to the Stainless Steel 0.4 Nozzle and everything was back to normal. After studying a bit more I have decided to give it another try.
I have performed the standard maintenance, including cleaning the Hardened Steel Extruder Gear, and mounted the Hardened Steel 0.4 Nozzle again. I have also cleaned and applied to thermal grease as a thread in this forum suggested.
Printer settings and Bambu Studio have been changed and synced for the Hardened Steel 0.4 Nozzle. I run a printer calibration and a Flow Dynamics calibration that was ok. But when running a flow rate calibration this is what I get. I am using a BL Matte PLA, dried and AMS humidity is at 10%.
Of course prints fail and even second calibration fail as after a few layers the material doesn’t stick to the underneath layer anymore.
At the beginning I thought the problem was with the Extruder Gear tension since I have noticed debris inside and I thought the gear was too tight on the filament. But changing back to the Stainless Steel 0.4 seems to solve the issue.
What should I do? I have a friend that changed the set up and he has no problem whatsoever. I also did not find any solution in the forum or no one with the same issue.
I swapped the complete hotels, plus I have cleaned the nozzle and applied new thermal paste before mounting it. So no clue, as I said I’m starting to think I got a faulty unit
Did you buy the HS nozzle from Bambu Labs store or off of Amazon?
There are dozens of sellers on Amazon selling nozzles and it is hard if not impossible to know if the parts on Amazon are BL or counterfeit.
Another thing is if you have been tweaking your print settings to compensate (over time) for the wear of the SS nozzle you would need to undo those settings. If you have been printing with CF or GF filaments the nozzle will wear out even more rapidly.
The HS nozzles that come with the printer wear out. You can’t buy a .4mm SS nozzle from the BL store once that one is toast. They only sell a .2mm SS nozzle
Each and every piece I have it’s original and ordered from the Bambu Lab’s website. So unless it is defective, I don’t think that’s the issue.
In any case, I have done some more testing and I think I’ve solved the problem. I am currently excluding the nozzle being the issue. I’ll post as soon as I get constant results.
I have performed a regular maintenance once again, changed the AMS PTFE Tubes (waiting for the P1s Specific tubes to change those as well), performed a factory reset (and changed back to HS nozzle), changed the MicroSD (since I have seen people having problems with layer skips), change the nozzle thermal paste to a high performance one.
All the test prints and prints were successful after this. Tbh I think the factory reset did the trick, thermal paste might have helped as well to get better result. PTFE tubes had no visible signs of damage.
Hope this helps if anyone should have a similar issue.
