I could have swore that I have seen the layer number on the A1 mini display that is on the printer but now lately I don’t see it. I can see it in the Bambu Studio page though. Does the A1 and A1 mini have that available? I read somewhere that I may have to add an M117 command to the G-Code but haven’t tried that yet. I also looked in the preferences in BS and don’t see a switch to enable.
Thanks
You need to switch the display screens.
Click on the model icon on the white screen to switch to the black screen.
You mean on the printers screen correct? The reason I ask is that I send the print through wifi to the printer and let it carry on by itself with the occasional waking up of the display. I will try it on my next print.
Thanks
Press this.
Get this.
You will find all the status messages including the layers info and such.
You can also change temp, and fan speed and toggle the light from this seemingly hidden screen.
You can also change the speeds from here, did you know there is a speed setting called Ludicrous?
Malc,
Thanks for the detailed info. I have heard of the Ludicrous mode but never thought to try it as it seems like a “what could go wrong” mode.
I have changed the speed using the silent mode settings once but it was limited in the options. I asked on the forum once about how to manually change the speeds by other percents but was trying to find out what other settings in the slicer go with that change. Nobody answered my post as far as I remember. I will play around some more now that I know more about this hidden option.
Thanks!
Edit: Well I guess I fot a few answers but not what I was looking for on that silent mode stuff.
The speed options in the 'hidden" screen. give you four speeds, these are pre-determined.
I did use the ludicrous speed on a test Benchy for a while, that was really ‘fun’ on my A1 mini.
I haven’t bothered on my P1S printers.
You can change speeds by using the Bambu Sliver in several ways.
-
The most common is using the Speed Tab in the Blobal set of parameters.
-
Another common and far more controlled way is adding Layer height Modifiers and changing the speeds for each layer you create. Layer height Modifiers are incredibly powerful, they can be used for many different things, including simple stuff like changing colours on models or the infill percentage and wall counts. Almost all global settings are available to each modifier.
You should take a look and experiment.
Unfortunately, these are not a simple dial you can ramp up or down, you need to modifier all related speeds to best gain the advantages.
Example of Layer Height Modifiers.
Malc,
Thanks for the detailed reply. I kind of figured it could be something that is learned over time with experimenting and trial and error. I knew of Layer Height Modifiers but never attempted modifying them. Now I will know where I can experiment. Good info. The only time I ever tried slowing the printer down is when I tried PETG on the A! Mini for the first time, or maybe it was the A1. I ended up just printing the part I was having trouble with on my MK4 that I had always used for PETG prints since I bought it so it was reliable at least with the Overture PETG I always used in it. So far I am very happy with my Bambu printers. Sure beats the CR10-S that was my first printer. ![]()
