So i been having random constant layer shifts on one of my x1c. Only happens with multi color models that have purging. I submitted a ticket for help, but so far nothing has worked to solve the issue.
Ive replaced nozzle, cutter, wiper, extruder and ptfe tube. Ive followed the belt tension guide multiple times. Also cleaned the carbon rods and rods multiple times , Lubricated the rods as the wiki explains.
Ran full calibration and also downgraded and upgraded firmware multiple times now. Support sent me a couple of files for testing and they all pass and print fine, But those files don’t purge.
I think the issue is something do when purging, As ive noticed before the layer shift happens a loud bang is heard. I’m thinking the tool head is hitting or getting stuck on the purge chute lever.
But not sure if that is a thing that could happen? If so, should i replace the purge chute?
Been trying to figure this issue for the past 2 months now, Getting tired and want to give up and retire this printer.
That loud bang is almost certainly causing movements to be missed, leading to layer shift.
I would setup a tiny test model with a few filament swaps, grab a folding chair, and watch (and record a timelapse for good measure) what happens. Your hunch sounds plausible to me, if it’s getting caught or otherwise stuck on either the chute, the cutter, the wiper, etc.
Include some pics of the chute/purge/wipe area (wow that doesn’t sound right…) and we can take a look.
I’ve had a similar issue caused by too much PTFE tube being in the printer (it got pushed in too far by mistake) and it would get caught on the sidewall of the printer, or sometimes prevent full movement.
Is the load bang always at the same level in the print or is it random? Have you checked the back of the tool head to see if the casting has worn out/cracked where the poop shoot lever activates? If it has it might be randomly catching. It’s a long shot as I would think the layers would shift towards the back of this were the case, not forward and to the right like your picture shows. Definitely an odd problem.
The object at the top left (video)has it failed ? it appears that way, which is what is causing the stringing on subsequent objects, you may also get layer shifting and a bang as the unused (stringing) causes a ridge and the nozzle will grind against it in the next layers , ive noticed on the A1 that it can cause the toolhead to want to reset to a purge / flush position when they become an irremovable part of the object , it would be good if possible to get a pause and reslice @ layer removing a failed object , until then its reset a plate
Ok sorry for the late reply, I was waiting for a replacement poop shot. Supports suggested replacing it because the metal piece feel out from the shot.
As I was taking the rear panel off i noticed the rear casing from the tool head looks broken from a corner.
Could that be the reason of my problem? Wondering if the lever was getting stuck in that corner and causing that loud bang?
