Left Hotend Heating Assembly Replacment

I am very frustrated. I had a blob issue which took out the Left Hotend Heating Assembly. I ordered a new one, which comes with pre-mounted cable sheet and wind blocker. My understanding is that the cable sheet and wind blocker are mounted in the two very smail holes on the left side of the heating block. Getting this mounted in such a small space was very difficult, and I ended up breaking the new unit, So, I have to order a new assembly, which is now back ordered. I can’t belive this is so hard to replace. Am I missing something?

Are you following the wiki guide?

yes, no help. It doesnt even mention the wind blocker

I’m pretty sure that the wind blocker and cable shield are essentially one-in-the-same.

Both the Hotend Replacement Manual and the full Disassemble + Reassemble the Toolhead Manual don’t show another part being installed during that time. Do you have a picture of your old hotend and the missing part? I just completely rebuilt my toolhead after a “blob” incident and I don’t recall a second part beyond the wind blocker.

I’m pretty sure they not the same. The replacment assembly I bought came with:

  • Left hotend heating assembly (pre-installed with cable sheet) × 1
  • Wind blocker × 1
  • M1.6×4 screws (for securing the cable sheet and wind blocker) × 2
  • M2.5×7 screws (for securing the left hotend heating assembly) × 4

Bambu Lab has outstanding documentation. The Wiki is fantastic. It falls down on this point though, My guess is you install the wind blocker on top of the cable sheet but thats a challenge given the location you need to mount in on. I woiuld also be a poor design, which would be unusual for Bambu.

But like I mentioned, the Wiki make no mention of the “wind blocker” when it talks about reinstalling the assembly. Unfortunately I didn’t pay close attention when I removed the old unit. It was my first encounter with “the blob of death” and things were quite a mess.
