Left nozzle PETG-CF

The left nozzle refuses to print Bambu PTEG-CF. I’m using 0.4 HF nozzle and it was printing fine before but now I keep getting motor overload error. I’ve taken the extruder a part and inspected it for debris and clogs. It didn’t have any. I’ve performed cold pulls, swapping nozzles and still have the same issue. I have had spaghetti come out from the space above the hot end once. Right nozzle prints just fine. What do I do now?

The CF materials are listed as not recommended for the 0.4 HF nozzles, even then - you should be able to get a print out. Can you try extruding without a nozzle attached and see if the filament is properly moved?

If it moves fine then there might be a thermal issue, including but not limited to: obstructed/loose nozzle mounting, temp too high causing extruder gear to deform filament, and temp not high enough causing ramming issues.

Also could be good to just snip any filament between your spool and the printer so you have clean line.

Have you had a chance to check this part of the printer?

It can sometimes cause issues that don’t seem directly related at first glance, so it’s worth taking a look.

Also, make sure the black part can move up and down freely. If it doesn’t, a variety of problems can start to appear.

Black part takes a decent amount of force to move. Should it be pretty freely moving? I believe it’s stuck in the up position which makes sense since I had filament come out just above the top of the hot end. I’ll take it apart again and double check this part.

It should move very freely—make sure to check for any debris around the sliding pin. Clear out any obstructions, and if you have dry PTFE spray on hand, you can apply a small amount to lubricate the mechanism. Be sure to use dry PTFE only, as other types of lubricants may create a greasy trap for filament debris.

If the pin isn’t moving smoothly, it can interfere with the correct positioning of the left nozzle, prevent proper filament cutting on the left side (which may even be the cause of the overloaded extruder), and lead to various other issues.

Some how some PETG got on the outside of the guide pin and was binding it up. Cleaned it off and it’s been printing PETG from the left nozzle just fine now. Thanks for the help!

I had the same issue with that part—except in my case, the filament managed to escape between the extruder and the nozzle. It was almost like the filament got scared of the nozzle and pulled off a Houdini-style escape act. :wink:
